  1. since Ki has revealed that the racks she bought will be used for some sort of organizational project. I thought I'd bring up a thread for other organizing ideas. In what way have you used Junk to organize your home, office or life. Pictures please.
This is a cool old plate drying rack that I picked up. I liked it because it had the side basket for silverware. I didn't know exactly what i was going to do with it, and then it hit me. I have it on my desk for files, bills, and the silverware section is for pens etc. Now my desk is all organized and in a cool way.

  2. This is a set of cistern buckets that I mounted to an old piece of wood. I have this in my office at work for extra pens, scissors etc.

  3. These are old loaf pans from a bakery. I mounted them at an angle between some old cabinet doors to make this storage for more junk.
Since I took this pic of it all nice and clean, I've added another loaf pan to the top shelf for more junk.

  5. Here is an organizer that mounts on the wall and holds mail, notes, photos, etc. I used three shutters and attached them together on the back. I applied a little wood glue to each slat and placed cardboard on top so louvers aren't open. Then I painted it black. I also added various pieces of hardware like pulls, knobs, etc. to add interest and to hold scissors, tape, stamps, etc.

  6. This desktop organizer is made from croquet hoops. The stick on the end is also from the set and has a slit in it for holding a note or two. The feet are cut from a croquet stick, too.

  7. For tacking up a quick note or two, or some photos I use this gorgeous angel. It's made from wood and is carved and stained, but I got it for 50 cents at the GW. I simply stick in thumbtacks.

  9. Super ideas. I'm gathering little things here and there for my home office. I'd like it all in "Junk" style if I have my way. I still haven't run across any of those dandy vintage wire dish drainers...I'm looking everywhere I go.

  15. I just finished a project. I started out with the intention of making some totems but in the process I ran across some she horns I have been saving. Ain't it funny how you can get distracted and turn in a hole different direction?! Everything was just sitting right in front of me saying, 'pick me, pick me'. So I did and here is what I came up with.

  16. Wow, I love all these unique ideas! Mine is an old stand-by...cardboard cigar boxes. My husband just went to a tobacco shop and asked them if they had any, and gave him a dozen, and told him to come back for more. Also he can buy wooden cigar boxes for $5. The DH said he thought I might like to make storage boxes for my crafts with them. Then I mentioned they might look good covered in Kraft paper, so he came home with a roll of that! I'll show them after I finish.

KudzuKween, I have some cigar boxes also. Can't wait to see what you do with them!

  18. Finished 7 cigar boxes with crumpled Kraft paper and copies of vintage labels cut with decorative edge scissors. I used watered down cheap school glue mixed with water as my cheap-skate version of Mod-Podge :D Now, let me see if I can show photos of a few of them..

  21. Wow!!! What great ideas! I have a shoe box full of shoe horns, I love levels, and croquet hoops...who would have thought? I have been a slacker on my organizing project using my cooling racks from Mt. Dora. I still have one more piece to pick up at Svinga Bros salvage yard. Since I am in Florida, I don't have access to my junk stash. I did however finish my golf club project today and will post on my blog later this week as soon as I get a shot of sunshine for photographs.

I gotta tell you, I am having so much fun on the message boards. It is oozing with creativity. I get really wound up...and what a wonderful group of people!

I do have an organizing project I did last year with potato mashers and thought I'd share.

    Peace,
    Ki
