  1. I posted an ad on Craigs List for shutters, windows, doors, and basically anything else that no one wants. I had a lady email me and said she has 4 sets of shutters. She sent me a picture of them. I can't think of what to do with these (they are not the normal style I work with. If you look at my website you can see what I do with shutters www.cottonechangems.com) Anyways, I need some Ideas. I do not want to turn these down. It is too good of a deal!

  2. I thought of one idea already. Get a piece of wood and a hinge and attach it to the top slat so it can stand on its own better. Paint it cute. Then get wood letters from hobby lobby or where ever and paint them a cute contrasting colors in one word sayings such as Welcome. Attach the letters with wood glue or nails. Then you can display it by your front door. Hopefully I can get one made when I get the shutters and post a picture. Hope you can understand what i typed.

  3. Mallie, I would say that one thing you could easily make with the 4 pieces would be a shelving unit -- 2 pieces for the back, 1 piece for each side, and attach boards across for three shelves. Another thing might be to mount horizontally flat on wall, hooks attached for a coat rack. One could also be the top for a sofa table/kitchen island (slots facing down) and the rest of the pieces could be used for the rest of the table. Also could be the start of a potting bench. Many ideas! Have fun.

Another idea would be to hinge 3 together lenghtwise. Then it could be used as a small divider/screen or as a back drop for a porch grouping. I take a couple of these 'screens' to use at shows-they are great to portion off my booth from my neighbors and I hang product for sale off of them.

  13. I would make one into a garden bench by painting it barn red with exterior paint, then lay it across two very large stones.

These were not shutters.. but lattice work that I got my daughter at an auction.. she used some outside her home and others she added hinges and made them like swinging type doors in her basement where she hangs all her clothes .. she did a great job with them and they turned out really nice.. the ones she used in her yard she hung on the side of her house and added items to it like flat sided flower pots and names etc.. really look cute on the patio...I am sure you could also do the same with the shutters.. like if you had a shop you could use them as doors for a changing room it too open you could always add some fabric on the inside so no one could see inside.. just some thought that are running around my brain at 6:00am before I have to go get grandson up for school

  17. you could also make a potting bench for next spring and use them to build the sides, or put on the back to hang garden tools... that just popped into my head... oops- sorry Midge didn't see you suggested that already- great minds think alike!

Or you could make shelves where the supports are and hang it backwards, or put framed pix in the center of the supports... I also like the divider idea... maybe also a headboard?
