  1. Don’t ya just hate it when you find a new blog or website and when you want to go back to it, you discover that you didn’t bookmark it, can’t remember the name and can’t find it in your browser history? That has happened to me more than once since joining this board and meeting more new junker friends. I have re-read a few posts looking for people, but since there are no ‘signatures’ included with our replies, I haven’t had any luck looking for blogs that way, either.

So, here is my solution. It may not be the best idea, but it will help.

Just put your blog url in a reply to this message. You can include your name if you want. That way when someone is looking for blogs and web sites, they will all be in one place.

Maybe someday our profiles can include a signature that will automatically be posted each time we reply. But I still like this idea, because all blogs and web sites will be in one spot – if you agree that this is an okay idea. If someone comes up with a reason this is a bad idea, please speak up!

  9. Hi, Marge! Hope all is well with you! You're on Blogger so you should try google reader (problaby doesn't matter if your blog is on something else). You add blogs you want to keep track of and it shows whether there are any new posts on them. You'll find it in your dashboard (lower right corner). If you need help, let me know. This is a great idea, too! Thanks!

  15. Kmayflowers, Linda's blog is http://lindacrispell.blogspot.com. If you need to search for a particular blog you can go to http://blogsearch.google.com. It can be really helpful. Someone just introduced me to the Google Reader, otherwise I was always keeping them up in tabs (really slowed my computer) or bookmarking them. And when I forgot I would use Blogsearch. Hey, Marge! I do want to thank you for posting this! It is a great source to find and be introduced to new bloggers. This is an awesome forum for it. Just didn't know if you knew about the Google Reader. I just found out about it (I'm a little slow) and have a ton of blogs on there now! Again, thanks!

  24. O.K. -- I do believe in asking questions...so, will show my total lack of knowledge about the Blog World. Can one or more of you wonderful bloggers share a bit about the actual process of blogging:
    Like:
    Is it difficult to do?
Do you recommend a particular blog home/community (e.g. blogspot)?
Does it cost money to host a site?
That's what I am looking for - still deciding if this is something I could/should do or not.

Kari,I don't have a blog yet, but I've been reading a lot about it for when I get the nerve to try. Most use blogspot.com & it is free! Also most say it is pretty easy. Go for it!!!

    Posted 4 years ago #
  26. I've definitely come a long way in the world of computers (that means I rarely start crying or holler for my kids to help me anymore) but I'm still unsure about a lot of this stuff. I had read a few blogs but still didn't totally get it. However, I noticed that many of the blogs I read ended in blogspot.com so I typed it in to see what would happen. Their site came up and I found out there was no fee at all. I felt it was easy to work with. You pick from a set of templates for the main body. They provide choices for the features you would like, font, colors, etc. Then it says New Post and go. I did play with it a bit and I am still learning a few things (like if you have more than 1 photo put in the last-to-first order). But the basics are easy. You can always work on details later. If you want to check out other hosts, look at addresses of bloggers.
My main problem is posting on a regular basis, so I'm going to assign myself a sort of schedule of rotating topics.
Hope this helps. Have fun and let us know when you up and running.

  28. Meadowview, I'll try to answer some of your questions.

Is it difficult to do?Not at all. The first thing you need to know how to do is to add your digital pictures. Blogspot allows you to load them directly from your camera or hard drive, and give you options to re-size them.

Do you recommend a particular blog home/community (e.g. blogspot)?
    I use blog Spot

Does it cost money to host a site? No

I have found it a great way to communicate with fellow junkers, and customers. It's also a fun way to build community. I know so many more local antiquers because of blogging than I would have otherwise. I'm so glad I started blogging.

  103. The link a couple posts above in all small letters works. The one after that with caps does not. URLs are case sensitive. Welcome Julia!! You have a nice blog! I remember some of those feedsack designs from when I was a girl. The first garments i ever made for myself were made from feedsacks. I was so proud of myself. LOL

  121. Hi Julia,
I love, love, love the feed sack material!!
A few years ago I did a feature story on
a local lady who made her first apron
    from her moms feed sacks.
I love your blog. Tried to follow you
but having trouble getting it to go through
    right now.

  124. Realize that back when this post was first started -- I was just exploring the blogging world. Been at it about a year now - such fun. Find me at:
    www.meadowviewfarmwi.blogspot.com

My blog is about life on our 1857 farm in Wisconsin -- including information about selling antiques at our bi-annual Barn Sale in our 100 year old hayloft and selling at an antique mall. You will also find a little reflection & day to day anecdotes about a city girl transplanted to a fixer up farm. Lots of decorating with vintage finds, stories of barn cats & goats -- and an occasional ditty about the unexpected.

  125. Kari, I enjoyed your blog and am now "officially" following it! I finally plunged into this foray after being a BLOG LURKER for years! (geez, that sounds kind of creepy! lol)
I love reading blogs and getting ideas and inspiration and keeping up with trends but never took the time until now to actually blog. I have favorites that I check almost daily, yet it's funny that I've never met those people but feel as it I know them somewhat through their posts! In the Blog world-- they are my "rock stars"! Anyone else feel this way or am I the only weird one that feels like that? :)
The one thing I find hard is to come up with clever thoughts to blog about that won't bore everyone to death.
    Anyway, here's my link:

  126. Right back at you! I am now following you too!

So...your question....I have a sweet friend or two that I finally did meet -- they arrived from my blog-world at my first Barn Sale. Their connection to my farm touched my very heart.
I know they cry when my barn cats leave me, and celebrate when good things happen at my farm too. They have become part of my story.

I feel like that about everyone on this site. The prayer requests and laughs we share, the interests and ideas we all share, I feel like everyone here is my next door neighbor.

  128. Kari, thanks. I wish I was nearer to Wisconson because your barn sale sounds so cool. I keep wanting to start something like that but my place isn't condusive to a sale or show and I haven't found the right venue yet. I think it's really neat that you met a fellow blogger. In Texas at the Antique Week that is held twice a year, a blogger I've never met (but admire-- like she's one of blogging rock stars :)Theresa of Garden Antiques Vintage), holds a blog party at the show. This fall I'm going to try to go and meet some of the people I hold in "blogging esteem"!
Diane, I agree about feeling like everyone on this site is like a next door neighbor. It's really cool how close you can come in caring and "getting to know" people through blogs and forums like this.

  129. I have decided to rediscover blogging again. I spend hours visiting everyones, but haven't spent time on my own. So that is my goal for the rest of the year. There are so many amazing people out there... how far we have come in the last few years. I remember discovering instant messaging in college and now look!

Copperhead, I've tried to leave comments on your blog (and others) but when I make a comment and log in it sends me back to log in. I'm stuck in an eternal loop. Your house is really cute.

  132. Diane, I think you did leave a comment - thanks - check back in a couple weeks more or less. You can sign to be a follower in the upper right - then you automatically get emails when we post something. We have 4 followers so far. I need to keep trying to get the pictures to work. I have a bunch to post but they didn't show up so I deleted the post. I want to get some pics of the fun finds too. Yesterday one of the guys found a wrecking bar and we let him keep it - he was so excited. DH let him use it too... We hauled out 2 dead refrigerators and a lot of walls out of the basement yesterday. The Velveta that was in the fridge WAS moldy. We sort of had bets on that one. I found an old Mix Master (mixer from 1950) Wondering what to do with it...

  133. diane...dont know why, but the secret is to unclick the 'remember me' box when logging in...then you wont get caught in the frustrating loop...

  136. I am new here. I can't believe, with my love for junk, I hadn't found this place. My blog is www.piddle-binks.blogspot.com . Now, that I have found a place to visit, I will post more on my blog.
I love to re-purpose old furniture. So much so, that I am having a Barn Sale in the fall to pass along my re-purposed junk.

  138. Welcome, She-ne. I enjoyed your blog. I did like LuAnn and listed it in my favorites, but you might want to set up the "Follow" button. I'm still learning about all the gadgets on my blog so I can't be of much help in adding that gadget (half the time the follow button doesn't show up on mine.. ) Glad you've joined Junk Revolution.

  139. Betsy, thanks for the welcome. I am so excited about being here. I so love junk and re-purposing old things. I can't seem to find enough on my own. I have "pickers" who watch all the flea markets, garage sales, and local junk stores that I don't get to. I will try and set up a follow button. Now, I am off to visit your blog.
