I recently bought new patio furniture and my old redwood table really looked old and tattered next to the new stuff, so I went to the home depot and bought 4 ceramic floor tiles for only 99 cents each and glued them to the table base ( I had to cut it down to size) with construction adhesive. Grouted the center seams and I think it turned out great. I also painted the base black so it would look nicer. What do you think?

I love it!!! That is so cute! And the birdcage - yum!

Now that is a great repurpose! Love it!

Good job!

I never realized how inexpensive ceramic floor tiles are. Unfortunately, the really pretty decorative edging is extremely pricey

That table is great..redwood to tiles! Looks so nice with your chair. I, too, love your birdcage planter!
I wish my mother had a computer...she is a huge repurposer and would love this website!

Greta - maybe Mom would like a computer for Christmas!!! I have shared this website with quite a few people and they are loving it!!
Posted 1 year ago # -
That is very pretty. TFS.

Breznlin- My mother's next door neighbor rebuilds computers for money. He is finding, fixing, and selling her one at a very reasonable cost. I can't wait until she has one. Of course, like me, she may not get as much done as she used to once she find this website. : )

My Mom is a lurker around here, so I have to watch what I say, but..........................
nah, I'll just say it. THAT LADY NEEDS TO GET OFF THE NET!!! She was creative BEFORE she discovered forums and blogs and sites and...
now nothing (and i mean NOTHING) is safe from the tiny terror...
I'm just sayin'. Blossom - watch out. heehee

Robelyn,
I often wonder if Mom having a computer could be a good or not so good thing. Computers are great. They are like encyclopedias to people with a penchant for researching the "whys" and "what ifs" of life. But they have also become enormous time-wasters.
I know people who live "vicariously" through sports blogs or whatever it is that people spend their existence doing.
I know the junksters on here have productive lives...I see evidence of such with every picture they submit.

Greta, I think your mother will love having a computer. I know that I spend too much time on here, but it is company to me since I am alone most of the time.
Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm wondering if I'm productive any more...since blogging...and this site...
Robelyn, what a hoot that your Mom is creative too! Do you guys ever do projects together?Posted 1 year ago # -
Maggie,
Now that IS a positive perspective about Mom having a computer. My mother is a pretty solitary person and lives 600 miles away. So many times I wish I could send her pictures of my kids, flowers...all the thing I tell her over the phone. I occasionally send pics (once developed) in the mail with other "goodies" she might enjoy.
I may have a sour taste about computers as my sister internet dated and encountered one disaster after another. Men were dating her, borrowing money, etc...while dating other women at the same time!!! She had her heart broken a time or two.
I guess it is like most things in life. Things can be a blessing or a curse...all in the way you use them...and how/if you use your own common sense! ; )

internet dating...yes, i think we all have that partially insane relative that "shops" for dates this way!!
one of my sisters does this and it scares me, terribly!! none, ever seem to work out....go figure!! ;{Posted 1 year ago # -
My stepdaughter did the same thing and yes they were moochers...
Posted 1 year ago # -
Well ladies I am to darn old to worry about dating.. but if I were younger I surely would not go on the internet to find a date.. ugh scares the heck out of me.. and I know some of the girls here at work do that. and none have ever worked out for them either. I some of the guys, put their son's picture on the site and then when the girls show up.. ugh.. fat, old, balding man.. LOL...when here they thought they were going to meet Brad Pitt. They always told me when I was younger and single .. to go to the Market on Thursday night.. all the single men shop on Thursday night..LOL not sure if that is true or not.. never tried it..

OK Ladies. Don't knock it until you've tried it! My husband of 14 years recently left me for a younger, thinner model. I guess that's what happens when you turn 40. My husband had his own schedule, his own life and his own interests. Anyway, I was poking around the internet one night while my kids were at their Dad's and I went on Craigslist (gasp!). I'm checking out the deals, etc. when I decide to go over to the personal section. The only ones I ever opened were ones with pictures. I was just curious what these types looked like. After being very discouraged as to what was out there for single men, I spotted a listing that caught my eye. Don't ask me why b/c I don't know. I opened it and read it. This man was looking for ME! He described to me a tee! We exchanged pictures and several emails and a couple phone calls. Finally it was time to meet. OMG, he took my breath away. As he describes it, it was being reacquainted with an old love. This man loves to go tag saling with me. Loves to go to auctions. Writes me poetry. Rubs my feet. Tells me I'm beautiful. We can't stand to be apart and every day is full of love and affection. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones.

very happy for you, lorene....you got the one gem in the box of rocks!! ;) lol
all my sister has run into are jack the ripper-type psycho nuts....who can't tell the truth to save themselves!!!!!!!

Lorene:
Glad you found what sounds like a keeper. As they say--"there's someone out there for everyone". You go girl!!!

Lorene....congratulations!! You did good!!
I need to check out that Craig's list. LOLPosted 1 year ago # -
You can find ANYTHING on Craigslist!

Lorene - I love it!!!!! A fellow blogger of mine (she could potentially be my soul sister LOL)met her husband on eharmony. I keep waiting to see them on one of the commercials, but I haven't spotted them yet. heehee You two are my only internet dating stories - it's so fun to hear them!!!
Jill - no, the tiny terror and I don't create much together...we're too different. LOL She thinks I'm insane due to the fact that I prefer rusty stuff - she's much much much more traditional than I. ha! She mainly messes with her house (even more so than I do!!!)! Did you know that there are roughly 23 seasons that you must re-decorate for? Hmmm.....

My sister and a friend both met their husbands online! Two of my friends met their husbands thru the old-fashion personals in the newspaper. No one meets in bars anymore. And what's the difference? A loser will lie to your face just as easily as he will online.
Getting back on the subject ... nice side table! :)

My husband and I were engaged after only two months of dating and married before we knew each other six months. I was twenty-two and he was twenty-four when we met.
To a lot of people, our marriage was inadvisable. But, we were both college grads, serious-minded, and were strong Christians. In fact, we met in church. (Great place to meet Mr. Destiny, I might add.)
My husband is my soul-mate and, after eighteen years of marriage, he still tells me I am beautiful. He is my anchor-- is tender and sensitive and is a wonderful father to our two children. We laugh at life and have the same goals and perspectives.
Our mutual favorite movie is "Family Man", with Nicholas Cage. We love the message.
To be totally honest, I believe the success of our marriage is not found within ourselves. (Not within ME-that's for sure ha ha) From the beginning, we made a three-way commitment. "A three-stranded cord is not easily broken."

greta, love your story about you-husband.
i was 36-he 29, he was divorced and had full custody of his children. he came up to me one day and said...if i ask you out what would you say? (shock, disbelief!?!-we are total opposites) eventually i agreed and would you know that on our first date he asked me to marry him!!! i laughed at him and thought what a silly guy but soon i found that he was dead serious....after a year of dating, we married and will soon celebrate our 10th anniversary!!! he's definitely my soulmate, my one true love....he's the most unconditional man i know (well, that is except when it comes to "where" i set my junk stuff!) lol

Gigi--
You used the very word that amazes me about my husband. He loves me "unconditionally". We are both blessed!

Well gals add me to the list of "I found Mr. Right" not online but he is, we are, the perfect couple. Maybe the topic for this thread should be Sidekick instead of Side table LOL
BTW I do love the table transformation and congratulations to Lorene for using Craig's List for the ultimate find.Linda

it's funny how one post starts out and then someone gets alittle side-tracked and there it goes on to something totally different!
a new on-looker may be thinking..."what in heck does Mr. Right, craigslist and eharmony have to do with a side table" ????? :)
Posted 1 year ago # -
Mr. Right would follow craigslist closely to find just the right color grout for the 99 cent ceramic tiles his lovely and talented "E-harmony-Found"-wife-of-25- glorious-years is going to glue to her redwood table.
Makes sense to me. Good advice for any on-looker. ; )

I have to say a word or two about my DH. We only knew each other a short time before we got married. We had alot going against us. Matter of fact his friends were taking bets on how long it would last. BUT...The good Lord himself saved our marriage and as of June we been married 26 yrs. He goes the distance for anything I do. As I do him... Talk about true soulmates...What God has joined together...He also helped take care of my dad for 5 1/2 yrs...
Posted 1 year ago # -
you two look cute together, leveta!!
so, what's that behind you all??
Posted 1 year ago # -
Leveta,
You are a handsome couple! And, what a great picture! The story of your marriage is very sweet...he took care of your father!!! My parents took in two relatives before I was married, and I know the blessings and the sacrifice that go with that endeavor.

Gigi it's the city of Pittsburg. My brother lives there. Yes he help with dad for 5 1/2 yrs. He was a great help. Before we had a lift he would lift him to sit him in the vech. Dad was about 6'0. 200 plus pds.He made a thing that dad could stand and hold on to and we could slide it to move him to his wheelchair or from his wheelchair to his chair. He built the ramp for dad. When he was off work he would come up in the evening and help put dad to bed to give me a break. Now we live with mom and watch over her. If anything happened to me he said he'd still take care of her. Before here breathing go bad they would go fishing all the time. Thank you gigi and greta for your sweet compliments. If I didn't have him I'd feel like my right arm was gone...
