  1. I have searched past posts and can't seem to locate it... didn't someone post a recipe for speeding up the rusting process? I'd like to make my crib springs more rusty just a little bit faster than putting them outside in the rain ... can anyone help me with the recipe?

    Thanks!

okay...i found mine and 2 others!! yippee!! but they do STINK and STAIN clothes....so be careful!

    i use 1/2 cup vinegar....1/2 cup bleach....heaping TBS salt.
mix in glass or plastic jar...let sit to desired color and remove and lay out to sun dry....some items take a day, some a week!

1/4 cup vinegar...bottle of peroxide...2 TBS salt....soak in open bucket to desired color....remove and sun-dry.

warm water with tons of salt, leave out in sun in mixture and when removed....sun-dry.

  5. or, you could make it fake rusty if you're in a hurry. spray it with red oxide primer and sprinkle on cinnamon. looks and smells great.

  7. Thank you moderator and thank you gals. I think I will try one or two of yours Gigi and I also spent a lot of time on your blog yesterday Kudzu and saw a number of things you did with your "fake" rust recipe. I think that would be pretty cool on the bed springs and really "prim" them up a bit. I'll try to remember to take pics and post them.
