Hillbillie--
I think our party-wear would be very fitting for high tea. If not, I could swing by the Goodwill and find us two more cheap costing/cheap looking monstrosities. I think I am quite good at it. I think we could set Lisa up in one, too!

Robelyn,
Just looked at your site...the pictures, the cake, the cake plate, and loved reading the history behind the certain items. What a great blog!
Then I clicked onto that gorgeous dress and found dozens of eye-pooping, stunners that look like they just came off of Grace Kelly!
Vintage dresses are another thing I collect. I used a gorgeous dress I bought for five dollars at an estate sale to dress my daughter as Scarlett O'Hara for Trick or Treat. I dressed my son as Rhett.

They are sooo cute Greta... Love the outfits...

Oh my gosh Greta - I'm coming to YOUR house! LOL What a fantastic "tea party" table!!! I love love love it!
And vintage dresses...one of my big big big, not going anywhere but in my closet, weaknesses!!! My favorite dress story is I was at a garage sale a couple of years ago and this little old lady walks up behind me, grabs my waist and says, "yep, you look the right size" - walks into her house and comes out with the most GORGEOUS creamy/yellow dress...even has the petticoat with it - and BEST of all - happy daisies ALL over it!!! She said that she got it in the 40's from her Mom and could NEVER give/sell or throw it away over the years...I now wear it during the spring/summer every chance I get!!! LOLOLOL It's GORGEOUS! I'll see if I can brush up on my photography skills well enough to take a pic!
My closet is full of ruffles and lace and all things pretty...pesky day job calls for working clothes. i hate that!!!
your kids are TOOOOOO cute!!!
Thank You all for coming!!! I'm trying to get myself together enough to post the winner!!! I drew names out of the tea pot late this morning!!!

My guess is that you are very tiny in size. It seems that most vintage dresses I find are very small. I sew and had to (sniff, sniff) alter the Scarlett dress to fit my daughter (but not much) ...if the flowers were only green instead of red...would have been perfect for the barbecue at Twelve Oaks! Used a massive amount of Wal Mart bags stuffed inside of muslin to make the faux hoop.
I love your story! Incredible! That sweet lil' old lady must have seen into your heart! And she had a huge heart to make such a gesture. I LOVE daisies! How wonderful people can be.
Don't you wish that people still dressed like folks did in the forties? I watch old movies and drool over vintage styles!
I used to be a drama/choral teacher and spent a lot of time foraging for vintage clothing. Some of my finds were wonderful. My kids and I don wigs and just dress up to be wacky. Have scuds of pictures of us in all manner of different era clothing. One day, my daughter went to school in a calico print prairie dress, dark tights, a bonnet, and black boots. It was dress as your fav. literary character day. She was Laura Ingalls.
Life is short. Play (dress-up) hard!

Oh my gosh...I wish I would have had you as my teacher!!! My drama and choir teacher did it as an......I don't know, but she was not very good!!! It was so sad because I had come from a school in Florida and I had THE BEST music and band and drama programs at my disposal!!! Just to end up back in Texas with...well....she wasn't that good! LOLOLOL I could potentially still be traumatized...
I SO wish we could dress like they did in the 40's & 50's! I eat that stuff UP!!! It's so cool because I have the various thrift stores around here call me when they get vintage dresses in! LOLOLOL I have to keep a weekly budget just for when the lady at Goodwill calls. ROFLMBO!!!
I have a winner at the Tea Party...and you guys might know her! LOL

Congratulations Jill! I think the E.liz.a.beth bag is beautiful. The belt handles...totally durable, adorable, and nifty. I am happy for you!
Robelyn,
I enjoyed your dining room post. Mustard walls and those huge E-A-T letters. Very stylish. Even liked your shelving. So, not only do we have vintage clothing in common but...... vintage dishes!!--sets and singles. I have a huge red transferware collection, a decent green transferware collection, pink depression glass for a fleet of guests, antique fall dinnerware set-- with acorns and leaves--and much more. I have plates hung as decor in almost every room.
I am a softy for romantic floral cups and saucers---especially demitasse size-- and have them displayed hither and yon. I even hang teacups on one of my Christmas trees...use silverplate utensils tied with ribbon for glitz. Perhaps we can enter that twelve-stepper together! Or perhaps it's the Texas two-step program for you. Sorry, couldn't resist.
I, too, lived in Florida --from the third through seventh grades. Lived in Titusville...where Cape Canaveral is located.

You're a lucky gal Jill, congratulations!
Greta your kids are too cute in their Halloween finery.
Robelyn that's a great story, I'd wear the dress every chance I could too!Linda

Congratulations Jill. So sorry I misssed the party, Robelyn. I've always been intrigued by those duct tape dresses but never really had an appropriate place to wear one. But for a tea party for the duct tape queen what could be better? LOL

Thanks Linda! I loved dressing them up. Now I am down to one...my daughter. We came up with a really neat Cleopatra outfit last year. I looked up Elizabeth Taylor on the net from when she starred in the movie many moons ago. Patterned the outfit from hers.
So many special memories!
