I just found your website this week and it is great!! I will be using a lot of ideas I have seen. Here is an old ammunition box I found at a thrift store for $1.99. It made a great display case for my old kitchen utensils I had.

    Neat idea.
Thought I would share another with you all. A local flea market use to have a lot of different size amo boxes for sale. The bottom had holes to hang on nails on the wall. The lid had chains to hold it straight out like a shelf. They always had them decorated with all kinds of different groupings on the inside and on top. Diana

how cute...i love it! thats my biggest problem in displaying...the "placement of items" to flow and mesh.

what is your inspiration when you go to display or arrange, is it a vision of the finished product, something you've seen elsewhere or is it a hit, miss and happy with it kind of thing?

any good sites on this subject, anyone??

That not only looks great, but to find it for $1.99 what a deal. This gives me some ideas for some old wooden boxes I have. Thanks

  13. gigi- It's a tweeked trait to decorate... first you hit a lot of websites, Country Living Magazine is a great inspiration! I like a lot of stuff in an area- my mother is clean and neat and doesn't understand my love for "junk clutter"... just start throwing things together... it takes some time but you eventually figure out what pieces look good with what. I strongly believe you have to have a lot of stuff to figure out what works... it's also nice to have a lot of things so when you want to redecorate you can shop your house... that's what I did a couple weeks ago. I have stuff in tubs, boxes, everywhere in my house, basement and garage.

Maybe to help you out we could post some of our decorated rooms, some of our 'gatherings' as people like to call them...

Here how I decorated my favorite cupboard I 'threw' up on the wall... ladies, can we help gigi?!?

  14. GiGi, I think it is a personal thing, me I am a Vintage kinda Girl, my sewing room is all vintage linens, old rocker, old ammo box that I tip on it's side and keep all my magazines in, my vintage aprons hanging from a hanger on the wall, my vintage hot pads are hanging in arow with old hat pins, I think you just have to putz til you find what looks good to you. there are no decorating police, just what inspires you!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK, Jeanne

loving the ideas!! i always feel that i have cute/unusual things but seem to lack flow...especially in an arrangement like the amo boxes (those are too cute by the way!!)

maybe it's just me but i feel i either under or over do my stuff...or maybe i'm just hyper-critical of my own self! ;]

am loving the pics tho!! i did just inherit an old wood/metal school desk from someone on another site...you know the kind that has the metal cubby under the seat and top attached on the right side/arm...i'd love to put it outside with flowers...any ideas on what would work in the cubby....something flowing, viney and colorful!? i am not a green thumb....tho i can grow a mean hosta (ha, who can't!?) and i love the fan flower...other than those...if i have it...it's usually a goner! (rip!) :)

gigi - a sweet potato vine would be beautiful in the cubby and there are a few different colors as well.

  20. I just bought 2 boxes. They aren't like this one. They are more narrow and shoter in height. One has several sections and the other just 2. But I just couldn't get them off my mind and had to go back and get them...If I new how to d the pic thing I would post a pic...

  22. Maggie I hate to ask, but being junk i'llit would you take me step by step as to how and what you did to make such a great dec. Did you buy the candles(where) or did you make you own? Thank YOu...

In the back, put something vintage like maybe enamelware plates or lids. The star & heart I made from fabric. The candles...just a candelabra that you can find at Christmas. I painted it with burnt umber paint to make it look old. After you get your arrangement done, fill it in with spanish moss.

  24. Jeanne, I only wish I had an organized sewing center like yours! I keep saying "someday" but for now we have some of our extended family living here temporarily, and I can't find much of anything these days. *sigh* .... someday .... ~tenderlee
