  1. Just had to run out to my parents to drop some stuff off... dad had to show me something in the barn and as we were talking I asked him if he had any cow tags. He did...

Then we looked around a little more and he parted with all this... LOVE HIM... Can't wait to make the lamp base a paper towel holder... slowly but surely he's letting go of his goodies...

    Had to share with you!

  2. Wow, Kim, what a haul! You got your numbers!!!!!! The other rusty pieces look like lots of fun too!! What a special guy he is. My dad is the person who passed on his "frugality" on to me. He taught me to cut the alfalfa with a scythe for my rabbits, scoop up the field corn that the harvester dropped in the fields - also for my rabbits to save me from spending all my hard earned babysitting $$.

Lucky you for having your dad that also saves junk!

Wish my parents lived closer. My Dad is a huge junker from way back and I would love to be able to work on projects with him. Nice haul!

  5. I made a lamp base paper towel holder a few years ago, I topped it with a glass knob. It works great and I still use it to this day.
Love the cow tags, are they all metal? Great haul, and great Dad.

  6. Oh my gosh! That looks like so much fun!!! GREAT DAD!!! My Dad drives around Orlando, Fl. with some pipes strapped to his WW2 jeep and parks in front of the shack that holds his gas making plant which consists of hot water heaters (all shapes and sizes)with tubes running all over the place (and under....)

Kim, can I borrow your dad?

I'm at the last stages of rebuilding our house which means all that storage stuff like hooks and paper towel holders! I was looking in the stores (what was I THINKING). Love the paper towel holder! The upstairs bathroom is going with a beachy sailing theme so I'm looking for an oar for a towel bar, although I like hooks to hang my towels with because the kids never put them on the bar neatly so it always looks messy, hooks are easier. and old outdoor brass faucets , a row of those would be cool towel holders. Rambling again. So did I tell you I like the paper towel holder? :) Diane

Kim, I LOVE all the things your Dad let you take, what a guy! The cow tags are espicially great! Your DH was right (that happens occasionally) the door knob is perfect for the topper. Such a cool paper towel holder, nice job!

  13. ROTFLMAO Robelyn- That's awesome... O.k. I might trade you for a week or two... some new redneck hillbilly interaction might just be what I need!

Diane- love your ideas for hanging things... if we EVER get the bathroom done, I want to do something simple like that too... I don't fold towels, or hang them neatly... and maybe my papertowl holder will become a toliet paper holder... hummm...

  14. What is it???

  15. Leveta, your guess is as good as mine! Something to do with getting better gas mileage, except in that photo on Christmas Day we were broken down because his gas gauge doesn't work in his 1960 somethin' jeep. LOLOLOLOLOL I'd say we got pretty good gas mileage!!! I'm still looking for the picture I took (just a few months ago!!!) of the possible moonshine distillery taking place in multi-colored (and totally junked out) hot water heaters in the middle of orlando. i'm going to have to go bail him out of jail someday for possible terroristic activities....

Kim - the trade is on! It's entertaining to say the least! LOLOLOLOL

i really do love my dad! he's my inspiration... LOLOLOLOL

Now that sounds like a couple of very interesting Dads. My Dad was the best storyteller ever. Wherever he went he always had a crowd gathered around him listening to his stories. Sure wish I had recorded some of them--he passed away 2 years ago. He built willow furniture and I've got a few pieces including a bench that we built together out of hickory. I'll have to take a picture and post it.

Anway, love the paper towel holder and those numbers, Kim
