ran into a lady today as i was getting info on the lincoln-highway/buyway coming to my area in august.
told her of my love for junk and fleamarkets, etc and she asked me if i knew anyone that dealt in typewriters....cha-ching!! YES...there's several on this site i get on...i'll ask them for you ;)
she has an older smith corona that is in need of the spool of ribbon (the black/red ribbon)does anyone have ideas where i can send her....either in person, on-line or heck, even to one of your etsy stores or something?
i realize it may not be as old as some recently shown/talked of on here but it's a keeper to her....so, i'm trying to help her out!!

Gigi, I'm glad you asked, because I have an old typewriter too & wondered if they still made ribbons for them.

I bought one for my daughter and she uses it a lot. She is in school and they want all of her papers typed on a computer but she can't afford a computer so they accept one typed on a typewriter.

  7. there are tons of places on line...just type vintage typewriter ribbon in google and you'll come up with loads of hits...if you know the brand you'll do even better. as one who uses the typewriters....the old ribbons are mostly dried out and no good...but i purchased one for my dad a while back for a royal he wont give up..(certainly NOT to make jewelry..although i tried to explain that it feeds his grandchildren..haha) anyway, i dont remember where exactly i got it, just that i had no trouble finding it....

i checked out staples/office depot, while they do carry certain ribbons....this ladies smith corona is older than that. will have to try on-line avenues, i guess?

Mine is an underwood. I couldn't find a build date on it, but it was purchased in 1948.
