Gals - can you help me? I'm listing some quilt magazines on Etsy for a friend (and I'll also start listing some of my own junk) and I'm wondering if you can save your listings and go back them later before posting them. Is that possible?
thanks for your help,
SuePosted 3 years ago # -
Sue - I haven't been able to find that feature on Etsy (like prelisting) but you can always edit them after you get them listed. I just keep praying they won't get greedy like Greedbay with their fees and such! I love the profits and meeting folks on Etsy. Will check out your items when you get them listed...good luck! Jan
Posted 3 years ago # -
Thanks Jan. I just googled the question about being able to save before posting but didn't come up with anything. I'll keep trying. That's one feature I really like about Ebay (or I actually use Auctiva to type up my listings). Sue

HI Sue!
I tried it once (without realizing it) and it can't be done as of yet. What I do is type everything up in Word, then copy and paste it into Etsy. I have templates set up for just about everything I list, then I go in and change measurements, colors, etc. I do hope they come out with a "draft" setting at some point!!!
I can't WAIT 'til you start listing your stuff on there!!!

Sue, Jan, and Robely, YOU CAN!! I discoverd this about 2 months ago. List your item right up to the final page where the List button is THEN save it to your favorites. Yes, it's as simple as that. When you want to list it later--go to your favorites (bookmarks) and there it is. It really works. One of my Etsy friends was ecstatic to figure this out so you can spread your listings out throughout the day or week. Let me know if you have any questions jrruskamp@msn.com

Jill, I just found similar instructions here:

I think bookmarking the page would make it even easier! Thanks so much for your help. Woohoo!

Thanks! I will try that next time although I try to limit my listings to two or three at a time so it will move your shop back up to the top. something else a fellow Etsy user passed on to me. Jan
Posted 3 years ago # -
So do we have anymore or how about other etsy sites you like Diane
Posted 3 years ago # -
Jan, that's why it's great to book mark them so you can get them all typed up and loaded when you have a block of time but then bookmark them and list them only 1-3 at a time to bump you up. You can run to your computer and in two clicks do the final step to list your item.

Ok, ya'll are wealth of information so I know you will know!! I have been investigating setting up a shop on etsy. But, I need some advise. How do you figure you shipping prices. Not quite "getting it" on how to figure the shipping on the etsy website. HELP!
Posted 3 years ago # -
What's etsy?! I keep seeing it mentioned but I'm new to all this.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Shipping cost on Etsy is tricky. I pack and weigh all my items before listing and then pick about 3 zip codes...east coast, west coast, and middle USA to get an idea for charges in those areas. You can also add 1 pound to that rate just to be sure and cover all areas. Just average the cost and you should come close to actual charges. Also I try to stay under 2 pounds on most items. Those flat rate boxes are good too for larger weight items so you can't lose there! Jan

Christine, it's a WONDERFUL site that sells ONLY handmade items, crafting/art supplies, and vintage items.
www.etsy.comCrafty1, go to USPS.com and you can estimate shipping by using their calculate the postage feature. Don't forget to add enough for shipping supplies. It costs a lot more to ship to the coasts so choose zips from there. You can estimate international shipping also. I just do that on a per request basis.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Thanks for the info. I had not thought about choosing zips from different areas to estimate. I will give that a try. I will let you know my address when I get going. Off to 20 miles of yards sales today in Central Missouri.
Posted 3 years ago # -
Okay, I was just looking at etsy and picked vintage tins to look at. People were selling things for $10.00 and up for the kinds of things you would see at any yard sale for 25cents! Do people really pay those prices?! I guess that's why I'm not in business. I always think if I wouldn't pay that price neither would anyone else.
