  1. Anyone have a any great craft ideas for Halloween and Fall? I love, love, love Halloween especially. I made a life size mummy last year for the front yard. :) I'm trying to find things for display in my booth or yard.

  2. I agree -- Halloween is just the best to decorate for. I am going to go with a more visual/fun decorating route this year for Halloween. I want all the pumpkins decked out in polkadots!!

Thinking my home decorating colors will be black, orange and an apple green! I am also facinated with flowy fabrics & will figure out ways to incorporate organza or netting into the decor.

I have seen pumpkins set on raised stands - poles stuck in the ground at differing heights with a top to set the pumpkin on ----- at night, when lit, the pumpkins look like they are floating.

One year I did a tree of bats -- bought oodles of bats from a novelty catalogue and hung them all over a crabapple tree in the front yard...then lit it from below. One year in a victorian we used to live in, we totally lit the house by candles for Halloween night --- only trouble was some of the younger kids were actually too scared to come up on the porch.

Oh - Halloween, you have my minds spinning webs!!

one year we made a little village out of carved pumpkins. we have about 50 feet of woods in our front yard. just enough to hide from the streets. I had about a dozen pumpkins carved with little windows and doors lit with candles inside. it looked like a little gnomes village.
Also we went to a nephews wedding last year and they had a table set up with about a dozen differant types of candies in huge bowls with little scoops. they used the little chinese takeout boxes and you could fill your own little box with your favorite candies. i can't wait to do that this year on our front porch, while i sit on the swing in my witches outfit. I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!

  5. I am known in town for the house with the most decorations! I downsized my decor last year, and had many people upset that I didn't do it up... people take their children for walks past my house... it's so cute!
UNFORTUNATELY.. I have never taken any pix of my decor... but I can try to explain and possibly try to dig some decor out to take pix.

I have taken 1x1 firring strips and drilled holes through them, ran pvc pipes through 2 sets of strips and painted black, added some candy skull containers I found at Dollar Tree and have gothic fence for my creepy monster display under my large tree. I have also cut many, many tombstones out of 2" thick styrofoam, spray painted them grey, routed them to look like tombstones and put "Justin Pieces" and such on for names... I've made coffin's out of plywood...

Halloween is my favorite time of year to decorate!!!

I will definitely try to dig some stuff out to take pix...

  6. hillbilly, I would love to see your stuff! We have a HUGE Halloween party every year and go all out with decorations (inside and out) and scarey food.

  7. Nifty Vintage, I don't know if you shopped much in Checkers last fall. If so, you probably saw all these things I am about to share. I figured I would go ahead and share them with the others. Also, one these pictures is from my front porch and not my booth. I'm really not into Halloween, but like to decorate for fall.

Ohhh, VanessaKae--love the Boo bottles. What a cute idea--and it looks like it would be simple too.

  9. Her booth is always so cute! I got one of the metal chicken feeders from her last fall and use it in my laundry room. She is so talented ! Jan

  10. So cute, Vanessa! What are the little black furry spiders made from? Did you make them?

    Posted 3 years ago #
  11. The spiders are made from some strange "shaggy" shank buttons. They were in a box of antique trims I bought at a tag sale. When I pulled them out I just thought they looked like spiders. I just added eyes and hung them with fishing line.

  13. On vanessakae's post she has a small chicken feeder on it. I know there was postings about that some time back. I have 2 and need ideals...I don't mean to change the subject...

  14. Speaking of Halloween...this is my find today. DH thinks it is cool so we will see what it will do on Etsy. The legs around the knees on the costume have some damage and could probably be cleaned. The two masks are like mint and the box is intact and in good shape too! The small masquerade type mask is stamped Made in Japan. All is rather creepy to me anyway. I am not one to do Halloween as my b'day is the day before and I guess I got sick of the decorations as a child growing up and having them for decorations almost every year...ugh! Jan

  15. Laveta - This is the chicken feeder I got from VanessaKae last fall. I replaced the fall items with Spanish moss and faux eggs during the spring. It hangs in my basement near the washer with stain removal guide tucked inside. Jan

I was wondering how you used it in your laundry room, I was thinking clothes pins Diane

  17. I believe that's one of the ones that I saw. It's really cute...I need some fall ideal for them if anyone has some...Thanks Dianne...

  18. I just plop whatever I find in the washer in it before putting the clothes in the dryer. I love to find money...my fav! I keep clothes pins in a mason jar on the window shelf...great south sunlight comes through during the day and it makes it nice and not so dark and drafty! I do shut off the basement from the rest of the house during the summer months though. It is really cute and I did add some ModPodge over the hymn lyrics. BTW - I am working on your stack of linens and will mail them Monday. Thanks! Jan
