  1. Just thought I would share some recent finds. The red table will be my new craft table. It is handmade, about waist-high (perfect, since I usually stand up when I am working)and on rollers. Can't wait to get it cleaned up and moved into the house!

I have a question about the wire and wood table. I am hoping to re-sell it in my booth. What should I do to the top? Paint it? Cover it with old sheet music? What would you do?

Another question - How should I sell the quilt blocks? There are 34 in all. Should I sell them all together for quilters? Separately for crafters?

Old doors! Love them! The large one I got out of a trash pile on a curb. Right after that I went to the thrift store I found the small one. Had to pay $2 for it!

I would sand the round table, white wash it and then put a stain over for a destressed look. I LOVE the red table and how I wish I had those doors. We recently went to a "door dash" for a local fund raiser and got an old door from demo places around the city. We are to turn them into an art project and then turn them back in for an auctions. I'm documenting with photos and will share later. I'll also photo others for ideas to share. It will be later this summer.

  3. Love your Junk... I like the sheet music ideal...I can already see it...Are the quilt blocks already in designs? If so I'd sell them together so they can be made into a quilt. I can't tell how many patterns there are there, but I do see a star pattern...

  4. Great finds. I'd sell the blocks as a group like Leveta said. quilts are not real big right now, at least not around her. I had some blocks I tried and tried to sell and never could. I finally offered them as a group and they went. Love the doors and tables too.

  5. Lila, I can't wait to hear/see more about the "door dash" fundraiser. Sounds very cool! I once heard about something similar with old chairs. I would like to do a fundraiser for my daughter/Rett Syndrome and something with junk would be fun. Keep us posted on the "door dash".

    I love your finds!

I, too would love to have that red table...my girls/husband are getting tired of me using their corn hole game and horses as a makeshift table!! but hey....it's just the right height for me! lol

What great finds. Looks like someone left the iron on the table a little too long LOL I do like the idea of sheet music on the table top or maybe a checkerboard.

  8. Vanessa - great finds!!! I love old doors!!! If that table were mine (do you think it would fit in the junk box? LOL) I would do a couple of layers of pastel paint colors, topped with white then chip it all up - but leave the legs the way they are! You could call it: "industrial cottage". LOL AND! I am drooling over the red table - great fun!!!

i just realized the legs of that bistro-like table has openings....would look awesome to hang little crystals in them.....or if you decide a certain theme....use little baubles-hardware-etc to compliment that look!!

  10. I like the white/distressed idea for the ice cream parlor table as long as you can cover the burn. The doors are just fabulous and I really want to hear more about the door fundraiser idea from Lila! I think I'd sell the quilt blocks either all together or in a couple of groups instead of individually.
    Glad you shared!

The red table is a great find. If you plan to resale the round table white would be a good neutral color and it would look nice. If you want different it might look cute painted like a giant flower. The quilt blocks might go faster divided into lots of 5-6 with a discount if they buy all of the lots.

  13. Okay, don't laugh at my painting techniques. It was a rough week. After trying a few different things I just had to "go with it." I needed to get the table in my booth because there is a big festival in town this weekend and traffic should be busy at the antique store. If it doesn't sell after while I can always bring it back home and try something else.

Also, I decided to bundle all the quilt blocks together for now. Again, if they don't sell I will try something different.

  14. Vanessa - Your booth is so cute! I am sorry that I haven't dropped by the mall in a while but the rains have kept me home. Hopefully you will have a great weekend with sales since the festival is going on right outside the door. The round table turned out cute too! Good luck! Jan

had hour to kill, so we went to local shop and took a look.

i saw a table like yours but it was a mini one...same legs but a barrel-type wooden top on it.

it really looked rugged and rustic yet fragile and feminine....it was adorable!!!

  17. Well, I got a call first thing this morning from the antique store. My table had just sold. I had to scramble to put something in its place. Doesn't look as good, but I was excited that it sold so quickly.

Nice when something sells quick--then you can buy something else.

Vanessa, How did the festival go? My DD & I had planned to attend, but the rain kept us away.

  22. Hi Maggie - I live in the same town as Vanessa and NiftyVintage. Where exactly do you live? Several of us here want to plan some day junking adventures and if you are close by we could visit you! We are trying to plan a trip to Gladewater in the near future! Just got through with the last big event for g'kids yesterday so I am starting to plan stuff to do and enjoy the summer! Jan

  23. When I stopped by the store around noon yesterday the one thing I noticed missing was the cool leather suitcase. You can see it in the photos above. I didn't get back later in the afternoon, so not sure how good sales were. I'm anxious to get in there Monday evening to see. The rain held off until Saturday about 5:00. We headed home then so I am not sure how much or how long it rained in town.

I live near Nashville. My DD & I have a booth in a store in Nashville. There are 2 resale stores & a vintage shop here. There's also some stores in Murfreesboro, which is about 13 miles from here. I would be glad to meet you girls. I also would like to go on the Gladewater trip.

  25. I love nashville. But don't know much about where things are around there. Downtown is the only place i've been. I just love the music coming out of the places and people playing gituar(sp) on the sidewalks...We are about 2 hrs I guess from there...

  26. Maggie - Sounds fun to me! We can plan a trip up that way to snoop the shops and meet you. I have been to Murfreesboro several times as DH used to go that way to fish the Little Missouri river. Let me get these next 2 weeks behind me and then I should be free to go junkin' . We will stay in contact and would love for you to go to Gladewater with us too! Jan

Jan, will look forward to shopping together! I'm sure you can give me some pointers on what to buy! I'm glad your Etsy shop is doing good! I've thought about trying that, but I'm not too good on comp. stuff anymore. You should put a link to your Etsy on your blog.

  29. I plan on putting a link to my Etsy but this past week has been so hectic for us. Our great niece had heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital and we have been dealing with that too. I think you could easily do Etsy...I am not good on the computer either! Looking forward to meeting you soon! Jan

sending angels, hugs and prayers your way!!

  31. Thanks for the angels, hugs and most of all PRAYERS! She has been moved to a room on the floor now and is doing really good. She has a blog spot so I will try to post the address. Her parents are in their early 20's and this has been hard on them too! Thanks again! Jan

  32. Gigi - her blog address is http://babyemmakate.blogspot.com

She has had 5 surgeries since birth and is only 18 months old. She is tiny, just started crawling a month or so ago and weighs only 14 pounds and has been on a feeding tube since birth. She has started pulling up though and maybe she will now get the strength to start walking. Got to say she is one tough cookie and is amazing all the doctors in Boston with her progress. Check out her site if you get time. Thanks! Jan
