  1. I love your dog beds (have been a fan since they were in the mag a couple of years ago) I am getting ready to repurpose about 1/2 dozen of my suitcases into pet beds for a craft show. I was wondering about a safety issue. Do you put some type of hook and chain on the lid to keep it from crashing down on the dear dog while he moves around to get comfy in his new digs? Maybe I'm being overly cautious...

    Thanks,

    ...question for you all...

    was given some old hard-shelled suitcases but they're locked with no key.
    i'd like to make into doggie beds and realize that i don't need the locks but am worried about damaging trying to open.
    any good, easy way to do so....they're the old lady baltimore and samsonite brands so i know the locks aren't gonna jimmy open with a hairpin like they do on tv!! ;}

    Oh shoot I was going to suggest taking them to the zoo and tossing them in the gorilla cage for him to open , then I read it was a Samsonite sooo that won't work LOL
    Maybe you could call your local locksmith and he would have a suggestion or open them for you free or really cheap if you brought them to his shop. I never mastered lock picking.

    My son locked his suitcase and promptly lost the key. He googled 'picking a lock' and came up with an answer. You might give it a try. Good luck. :>)
