Topic: Repurposing vintage coffee pots

 (6 posts)
  1. I run the vintage shop Nickadizzy on Etsy and acquired a box of vintage coffee pots. I cleaned a pinkish gold West Bend for the shop, but the rest, while old, aren't high enough quality for the shop but too cool to pitch.

I am thinking of repurposing them but am uninspired as to how -- maybe painting them bright colors, although I feel slightly guilty painting them and wonder if I should leave them original.

The double West Bend in the picture is particularly interesting albeit not that attractive as is -- the aluminum pitcher has a dent.

Any inspired ideas? If you want to see the West Bend I salvaged for the shop, you can view it here:

  2. Hi! I am an Etsian too! When I had an actual shop I used old coffeepots like that for planters. Succulents are hot now.I have seen windchimes w/ old silverware but I am not a wind chime type of gal. I did paint once once for my SIL who owns a coffeeshop w/ her shop name on the side. I have seen them used as parts of a garden water fountain. They could make a cute canister if they have a lid and are the type w/out "innards". If they are in sorry shape and common, painting them will not hurt.

Did you get a chance to scroll through the first two? Very creative use of common items. I'm going to try to snitch some old pencil sharpeners from school. Love the way they use the opening for the mouth.

  6. I love luminaries and the metal should be easy to drill interesting patterns in for the light to come through the holes. I am not a fan of painting, but how bout decoupage or mosaic?
