You guys who use license plates for various projects, what do you use to cut them straight and cleanly without causing blisters and killing yourself!?

My husband bought me a pair of some type of shears that were supposed to be good, but (pun intended) they just aren't "cuttin' it"! LOL

  5. I was wondering about this same thing a couple days ago. I wondered if they cut them with a plasma cutter. An expensive toy that most people probably don't own. lol

My husband was able to use one at work one time to cut some metal for me, but it's not something he can use any ole time.

  7. I know my friend Cammie uses a tin snips, but the older the plate the thicker the metal and the harder to cut.
Gloves is a good idea and if you are doing quantities, hire someone with a plasma cutter.

  8. If you go to the place that sells oxygen they might know who has a plasma cutter. We used to have one - they are a lot of fun.

  9. i have a question...how do you get the edges that you are cut to be smooth enough NOT to cut someone..as in using the pieces for jewelry?

  11. I use a good pair of tin snips, gloves and I finish off the job with a file. I also take my time. Good quality tools is money well invested. Getting good old tools for cheap used is even better.
