  1. I love old corbels. I was recently able to trade with a fellow dealer and get me a couple that are just perfect for the cottage bedroom I'll be doing when my Oldest moves out (this summer).
Love the corbels and the price is pretty fair too.

  2. Thanks, I love them as well! They are getting harder to find. Can you imagine what they would cost new? The home improvement stores ask huge prices for trims and architectual embellishments!

I really like corbels too, but don't know too much about price except they're usually expensive. I'm including a picture of a pair that I have. Very heavy, 5'across longest edge. I'm asking $175 for the pair. My friend says I'm being foolish and could get a lot more in Chicago, New York, etc. I'm in small town America, Michigan no less. I told her to post on E-bay and keep the difference if she wants. I tend to be very reasonable with my prices, some would say I'm too low if anything. Am I in the ballpark on the corbels? Or is my friend right?

  6. If it weren't so expensive to ship, I might just buy them.

  9. Wow, they are awesome! When they are that large you need the right customer...someone remodeling or building. I suspect you could sell them to a dealer that is close by. They would be a fortune to ship. You could probably get more $ in a metropolitan area...just have to get them there. Good luck!

  10. I saw Midge's Corbels today and they ARE large! We went junking today and saw dozens and dozens of gingerbread corbels and others. I've never seen so many in one place! What a great salvage yard - I think we need a whole day to go through it!

  13. LuAnn -- Thanks for covering for us in our absence. Sue and I had a great junking day, hopefully you can join up with us soon.

    Ki --
The place with the corbels was Pitsch Wrecking in Grand Rapids, MI (unfortunately,as you know, MI is for Michigan and not Minnesota). I'm not well schooled on salvage yards, but my guess would be that's a pretty standard one, probably not worth the trip. But those pieces were pretty sweet. They were the 90 degree angle kind, brown, really chunky with a lot of detail and I would guess about 18"x18". There were probably 20-30 of them priced at $125 each. I'll snap a picture the next time I'm there.

  14. midge...if you are making money at the 175, i would stay there and be happy to get that price.......it sounds about right to me...i bought a lot of nice ones but not that big at a big flea for under 49$....
they arent the heavily layered carved ones....and the size isnt easy to use...
