I have 2 small booths that are each 4X8 and I am just not creative with my set up. I would love to see some pics of your booths. Would love to see some small booth set ups!

  2. Good Morning!!! I think you are selling yourself short 'cause I'm betting your booths are WAY cute! :-)

Here are a couple pics of mine...this was my first time to set up in an actual antique store so I definitely am learning along the way! It is a work in progress - and this is before I started moving spring/summer in! I'm going to have to take some more recent photos!

I'm ready to see other set-ups!!!

  3. That looks like fun stuff! Can't wait to see your spring/summer items. Mine is so crowded but there is plenty to look through. I have recently gotten out of handling furniture unless it is small pieces they can throw on the backseat of the car. I need to fluff mine up again so maybe Friday will be a good day for doing that. 4. You know what I love, this site... There is everything on the whole site to show a person how to set up, where the best places are in different states, whats showing best and how to make...Everyone here is great...

if you're worried about needing more space or a walking path....maybe you could do some fixtures from the ceiling lovecrafting...ones that would allow you to hang alot from them at different eye levels?

when i'm out looking, a few of my favorite booth setups would have to be the oversized baskets filled to the brim and even a small tree with lots hanging from it (i don't care if it's christmas time or not...they hold a ton!) ahh some wonderful smelling candle/fragrance luring me in...(like a dessert smell of cookies/buns/vanilla...something subtle....if it's overpowering out the exit i go quickly!)

I would love to hang things from the cieling but it is a new mall and they haven't gotten around to putting trellis over the tops of the booths yet and the cieling is about 10 feet tall. I have some chandeliers that I would love to put out but at this point I'm afraid they would end up broken.

  7. Mine is about 10x10 and I've got it packed. Here are some links to my blog which shows some of my booth currently. It changes often, so even some of this stuff is already gone. March was a great sales month.

lovecrafting...looking at hillbillies new spring porch in another post made me think of this for you.
you say the newer mall doesn't have trellis overhead yet...so why not make your own..borrow some high ladders and fix your own piece across the entire booth
    or
take 3 older ladders...prop up like an old monkey bar, add some vines, berries, little while lights and flowers to make it look like a spring-filled arbor and that will also act as camoflauge to hang things from the entire length of the ladder going across.

Great booth! Love how full it is and everything is displayed very nicely.

  20. I just back from trying to re-do my booth a bit. It's 10x10 and whenever I do a major re-do, or add a piece of display furniture, it's a real trick to get things moved around without cluttering up the the walkway, but I manage.
I always feel as if it's just not quite right, but I have a friend who sells like crazy, and her booth is just shelves with stuff on them. No real displaying, or merchandising, just lots and lots of stuff. As I said, I'm not real happy, but maybe it will grow on me, or I can tweek it here and there, just in time to change it up again.

I have a question. Many of the dealers at my mall have rugs in their space. I have one that someone is letting me use, but it always seems dirty to me. I vacuum but it still looks dirty and catches all the stuff that comes in on shoes. My question is, do you think it would look ok to not have a rug at all? I'm thinking that sweeping would be easier than borrowing the vacuum that doesn't work real well every week. I'd prefer to have just floor there. It's a wooden floor painted a barn red. I think it also might make my space feel larger.

  22. Nifty Vintage's booth always is so interesting and neat things to look at too. She has quite an eye for knowing what will and won't sell. Same way with her Etsy store! Very unique! Jan

    Posted 4 years ago #
  23. As a shopper, I'd rather see a painted wood floor than a dirty rug. Try it without the rug for a while and see what you think.

    Posted 4 years ago #
  24. Nifty Vintage's shop is the kind that I stop and look all around in cause it is neat...There's some that everything is just throwed an top of each other,I just look as I wslk by...

    Posted 4 years ago #
  25. Nifty Vin. on the top pic. What is the round thing that's hanging? You can see about half of it. Is it a round basket or a light? It's neat looking what ever it is...

    Posted 4 years ago #
  26. It's a round floral paper lantern from Victorian Trading Co. Thanks for the compliments on the booth ladies!

    Posted 4 years ago #
  27. Nifty...I would loiter in your booth for a good hour...then probably u-turn back around for another look!!! Fun and interesting!!!

Margo - the painted red floor (you can never go wrong with red!!!) sounds really fun! I have two carpets in my area...an 8x10 zebra rug and a gorgeous hooked rug. Luckily for me neither one of them shows dirt, so I just vacuum every couple of weeks! Another good thing for me is that I am in the middle of the store - so dirt and shoe droppings are left in the first few booths! For my shows that I do I take a piece of linoleum and a cow hide - not only to define my space, but also to make it a lil' more welcoming! What if you left the red floor (which I would love in my house by the way!) and then did some scatter rugs?

    Have a great day!!! :-)
    robelyn

    Posted 4 years ago #
  28. I like the red floor, could you maybe mix it up and just get a scrap piece of linoleum to put down that would alter the look abit, but wouldn't be dirty like a rug, if you find a darker color it could hid the dirt... just a thought...

  29. I grew up with a mom who ALWAYS made her living in this type of business, from quilting and stenciled hoops when I was a small kid, to now, where she has had her own home decor store (Harvest Moon) for about 15 years! This is my very first attempt at this sort of things. With the help of my partner (who also happens to be my best friend AND husband) we set up shop on the first of March (yes, THIS year!) I have been told that I apparently have the "knack" and didn't fall far from my mothers tree! That makes me very happy, as I have never felt all that confident with my own skills in this area. However, I must be doing ok, since in our first month, we made the list of the Top 10 Sellers for March! At any rate, here are our booth(s) as they stand now. One is an 8x10 and the other is a 2x8. They are directly across from each other, so it makes for a cozy little area. However, we got an opportunity for much larger booth area, more in the center of the mall, and we will be moving there at the end of the month. (And yes, we have a rug...it makes it feel more homey, I think).

  31. Very Very appealing! Love your design layout too. It isn't hard to figure out why you made the top 10 sellers. I could spend a big chuck of money in your booths. I too like rugs for a more homey look and more than once has saved a breakable when it hit the floor. Jan

  36. That antiques sign in front came from wood of a 100+ year old barn they were tearing down and a man that is now deceased chisled the lettering on both sides for our antiques shop years ago. I dearly love it but have no place to put it so decided to try and sell it.
I use lots of wire gym baskets and wood boxes for some of the stuff. Wish you lived close enough to stroll through it. Jan

  38. Here are a few more pics of my booth. Just haven't had the time this past week to work in it and do some 'fluffing'. I do love my large green carpenter's box but no one else seems to like it. I priced it $ 25.00 and thought that was a good price. Guess I will keep moving it around and maybe the right person will snag it. Maybe next week I can really get in there and redo the whole booth.

What is in the large jar? I have a passion for these.

    Posted 4 years ago #
  40. Berries, pastel eggs, bird's nest, raffia and such. The jar is called optic and sorry for the tape on the top but folks will knock them off and walk off and leave it too. We (vendors) have all learned the hard way just to tape it on despite how it looks. Our neck of the "woods" seems to be very reasonable with prices too. I will having a garage sale starting Saturday morning on my blog spot and will post the address tomorrow. Jan

  44. No telling what you will find in it either! Seems I discover all sorts of items myself when I am working in it. I used the green tool box with my plants one year and have had it stored since. Just don't need it anymore and will be glad when I see it gone from the booth! Jan

  45. Jan: Your booth reminds me of my friend Anita's space. And she sells like crazy too. People love a packed booth, I know I do.

  46. Thanks! I am going to give it a good rearranging next week and lots of it will appear on Etsy and my weekend garage sales. I want to downsize to a 10 x 10 in the very near future. It will make it more manageable for me too. Jan

i realize this is show us your booth but it kinda fits in...i think!

we have community sales every year...i've known about the dates for 3 months and have had plenty of time to gather, set-up and display to my likings in my garage...but i have been dawdling...i now have alittle over a month to set up.

i know what i need to do, have to do and the process/work involved yet i am being a procrastinator about it and wasting my time away!

i need to do well because i raise money to send our daughters to camp in the summer and yet...i'm poking around! i think i'm afraid of setting it up...i usually do well with displaying things but lack that motivation this time!

do any of you feel this way when you set up your booths, so worried about the end process that the beginning process is overwhelming?? or do you feel like you need to constantly organize and re-organize the items? ot there is always a better way if you just find it? (am i being OCD here or what?) lol :)

  68. Since I stayed home from church with my daughter who has a cold, I finally had time to resize some pictures of my booth. It is nothing fancy. Just a little space with not enough shelving. I try to just make do with what I have. The green cabinet was a $25 garage sale find a couple years ago. The "cubbies" were a $5 garage sale bargain. I purchased the tall white shelf from another vendor a couple weeks ago because I was in desperate need of more space. It wasn't quite as much of a bargain, but I like it.

  74. This is the latest find I made in the thrift store. This little vintage metal stool was $ 2.00 and super rusty. No one in our area will touch anything with rust so I had to paint and refurbish it. I used a jade Krylon paint on it...2 cans ! Anyway I am hoping it will find a new home soon. I priced it $ 24.95 which I thought was super reasonable for my time in painting and sanding it too! Jan
