  1. I am now the owner of three wooden ironing boards....I have had the one for several yrs and used it as my "check out " table for my sales for awhile...even painted it robin's egg for fun.

But, I wondered...does anyone have any creative ideas for them??? I am not set on getting a lot of money out of them since I paid very little for them...infact, I dont mind having them around since are useful for displaying in my shed, booths, etc...

Just wondered if anyone had any ideas....thanks!

I use one as a plant table, you could cut 6 or 8 inch holes in it for pots to fit down in. I have painted uncle sams, santas and snowmen on them. I had thought about painting a witch and tacking on a thin board for her hat brim but that hasn't happen yet. They are also about the right size for a sofa table. You can take the legs off and just use the board part as the back to a shelf and/or quilt rack. I have also seen them used like a easle with just a small board shelf added to hold a painting.

  5. Sofa Table, hang on wall, paint design on it, use it for a photography base.
Not much else, I actually had one for awhile and sold it because i couldn't find anything creative to do with it. I am always passing them up at sales. Wish I could think of something really great.

  6. They make a pretty good display table for a sale. They fold up pretty good and hold all kinds of stuff. Find some old vintage piece and use it for a table cloth. They fit in that odd place. Then it goes home and is used as guess what? - an ironing board.

Or just use it as your selling desk. You can stand or sit behind it because you can raise or lower it as needed.

We decoupaged and old Sears (1920's) catalog on one. Used the underwear pages. Looked really cool. Someone stenciled laundry words on one and hung in the laundry room.

I used one for a cabinet door for the utility room. Simply remove all of the hardware and use the top. Sold mine fast in my booth(Always forget to take pictures)

  9. I keep several on hand in my shop to use as display pieces. If a piece of furniture sells, I grab an ironing board from the back and put it up real quick, set a few things on it, and viola, no more hole from the furniture that sold.

We used to have one in our living room we used as a coffee table. We just added a piece of wood to the back for the legs to rest against, that lowered it to coffee table height.

We've used them as buffet tables at picnics etc.

I recently painted a big saltbox house on one and it sold quickly. I'm going to do a couple more. I've also sold several just plain that the customer was going to do her own decorating with.

I've sold them to ladies who wanted to use them to iron on. They said they like them much better than the new metal ones.

I'm just the opposite of Margo who said she passes them up at sales. I grab every one I can get!

Make a nautical scene out of one and have it propped against a wall or hang on it. A lighthouse would look really cool and it is just the right shape.

I took the wooden top off mine, rough painted it, and added a metal arm from an old hanging light fixture I had laying in a pile of junk. then hung a bucket on the arm. can add flowers. also, thought I may hang a ball jar with a candle in it for a luminary. you can just lean it against the house or make it free stand some how. and the other one I had I painted it and painted the words "garden of tranquility" on it. of course it would have to be someone else's tranquil garden. I have two dogs that love to uproot anything I plant. I guess they didn't like where I planted flowers. I also seen one years ago when americana was big. it was painted half white half burgandy long ways and on the larger end painted blue with a star. so it resembled a flag.
