    Hi all.
I'm new to this lovely forum. :) And I am looking forward to prowling through all of the old posts and ideas.
Currently I am trying to come up with the best ways to make my own outdoor "cement" statuary that is permanent and hopefully lightweight and non-freezable.
I use the word "cement" loosely as I really don't care if it is cement that is actually used to make the statuary.
Basically, I am looking for some kind of a recipe I can mix up that composes the following:
    Lightweight
Easily moldable and fairly quick setting
That I can treat, somehow, to make it hold up to our Pacific Northwest rains and 20 degree occasional winter freezing.
I would like to hand craft some fountains, perhaps, or a few planters and hand made statues.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I love fountains. I have seen many many fountains made of all sorts of materials. you could probably do a search and find lots of ideas. I like the ones made out of recycled items. And it helps for the fountain materials to be cheap because the pump parts can be expensive. I have passed up many cheap fountains at yard sales and such not thinking I could have bought them for the pump parts. I am like a little kid in a candy store when it comes to yard sales. I get over excited and miss stuff. So I always do a second pass so I don't miss something. lol

Yard sales! Lol, I love them. Had to stop going because I ran out of room.
Although...there are two near to my house tomorrow....Yep! I'm going! :)

I used to have that garage sale fever, but I had to quit for the same reason. Lately I've been to a few. Since I moved,I don't have much room to store things,so that cuts down on my buying.

I am going crazy today. There is a storage business that has two units worth of sales. I blew my cash yesterday. I found a yard sale on Craigslist and the people let me come and shop a day early. It was such a GREAT sale, I spent all my money. Now I am trying to keep busy so I don't think about it. When it comes to yard sales, I have the self control of a two year old that has found where momma hides the cookies. So I am counting on you all finding great bargains and posting about them so I can get my thrill and yard sale fix through you. LOL

  6. oh I am in trouble... big trouble... I just broke the junk ban... cringe... I picked the trash on the way home from work... I found a really old home made looking plain wood with wildly painted spindles and wooden sewing spools (probably lead paint) play pen - folds down real good... If I could get it up off the floor & if it would hold weight it might make a nifty love seat...

  7. Are you wanting to cast concrete or carve it or what? They put foam in concrete. I know you can make forms to cast concrete - you can do free form in a pile of rocks but who knows how it might turn out. For $20 you can get a book on concrete sculpting from Amazon - I wonder if the library has something.
