  1. I am allover the web reading ALL kinds of junk, vintage, crafting, home decor, mom, etc, etc, etc blogs and I keep seeing blog parties/events that they plan to get together and meet each other, network, learn, etc. It seems I hear about a lot out west.

Is this something any of you would be willing to try? I know that we are not all located in the same area, but we if put our heads together maybe we could have 2-3 throughout the country?? like "Junk Revolution Blog Bonanza 2011" ??? :) I would love to meet some of you and benefit from everyone's expertise!!!

I have a millions things on my plate, but could easily add another! (ha!) I could look into putting something together for the Iowa-Nebraska-Missouri-Illinois-Minnesota crowd...

    Input, please!!!

  2. ooh oooh ooh! Keep me posted on this! I've mentioned to Funky Junk Sister's Vintage Flea Market they need to do a show in this area too! :) They seemed open to the idea!

  13. I love the idea of this! It's just that I can never leave my youngest daughters (health issue) so unless, I can bring them along I'm out. Would just love to get together with like minded people!

    Posted 2 years ago #
  14. Jillruth ~~~ I see NO reason why you could not bring them along. I am not thinking it would have to be extremely formal!! Just a bunch of junkers getting together!

I might put a message on my blog and see if I can catch some midwest area junk bloggers that are not on here....

  16. Midwest people -- where are we thinking?? I would be willing to plan but that might mean Des Moines/Cedar Rapids, unless there is a more central location and someone else could do it??

I am open to ideas - please don't think I think IT HAS to be in Iowa...plus, if we made it an annual thing, we could move it around each year -- get to know the different junk spots in each state!!

    Posted 2 years ago #
  17. I love the idea of moving it around the midwest! Someone could "host" each year...of course with the help of all the others!

I would love to go. Im in MN but do I have to have a blog. I just read everyone else's blog just dont have time for my own. Jillruth, I too would have to bring my daughter, she has Down syndrome. She's a young adult and she already knows about junking and collecting. I take her to all the flea markets and garage sales with me.

    Posted 2 years ago #
  20. Krisann ~~~ No, I don't think you would have to have a blog, it could be for people on here, too!!! I just want us all to meet, network, etc!!!

Bring your daughter...sounds like she knows how to be a junker, too!

  23. I meant to mention this earlier and forgot...if we met in Des Moines we could go to West End Salvage. They are always at Bonanza AND they were just offered a reality show from Pie Town Productions in Los Angeles.

It is in a 3-4 story warehouse...really fun place, and there's a coffee shop for all the caffenineaholics!

Just a thought that I forgot to mention before...whatever we decide is fine!

  43. no http://bargainsgaloreon64.com/ for me, but there is one on US 40 through Indiana http://www.oldstorefrontantiques.com/yardsale.htm A friend says it is VERY VERY good for antiques east of Indy. I had hoped to get my stuff into that sale somehow but things have spun out of control for this year. I just landed an additional new job. (yeah) DD is pregnant with #5 and we should have that tax house by about that time I hope and I am wanting a garden again. The junk can wait I guess. I have been selling a few things on CL lately. sigh of relief...

  45. Ok, I am not sure that we have actually made a decision AS TO WHERE to do this...If it seems as though this is too big OR we are all just too spread out than I would be willing to have one in Iowa and anyone from the neighboring states would be welcome to come. I got 3 responses to the post on my blog and I also talked to a few local girls that would be interested in attending. I also would like to open it up to diy/craft bloggers. Many of those bloggers use second-hand materials. One of my blog friends (who is a local and a girl I have known since high school), upcycles all kinds of stuff but not sure I would call her a 'junker'...

Either way, i think the planning process needs to get started! I am sure will have schedules filling up (if they aren't already full!) Let's try to make a decision! :)

    Posted 2 years ago #
  46. It might be easiest to do the first near you and make it an annual thing! I'm in Nebraska, let me know if you need anything from me!

  50. I guess I will plan something for anyone in my area that wants to come. If I set a date, please tell me if you can make that date. If we do not have a good number of people than we might ahve to cancel....Ok, before I dive into the planning...I need to know:

    - are we thinking summer??? fall??
    - during the week? weekend? how many days? 1-2? 2-3?
    - what do you want to get out of this experience??? a lot of networking? a speaker? (experienced blogger or shop owner/junker), some hands-on fun?? (crafting/junking)
    - what are you willing to spend? Obviously, I want to keep it LOW!

Whatever else -- please tell me

    Posted 2 years ago #
  51. I hesitate to give input as I don't know if I could come or not. I would think summer before kids are back at school. 1-2 days would be good. I don't know if I'd want to speaker or not...maybe an organized forum to get discussion going. Hands on crafting would be great fun.

I'm in south east Michigan and would love to attend an event. The only thing that worries me is gas prices. If it turns out to be Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana or Illinois, I could swing it, but any farther would stretch my budget a little too thin. If it's out of my reach, I'd still love to hear about it from those who can attend.

As far as not enough people being interested, maybe we just need to get the word out to other forums. If you think that would help, I'd be glad to help with it.

    Posted 2 years ago #
  62. ok, now it seems as though a few people are interested again. I am still willing to organize (if its in Iowa) but I need definite maybes, possibly yeses before I go forward.

I just found out about a month ago that I will be spending a week in California in July so that is going to eat up a good chuck of that month, but I could still do it. I just need to know for sure if people are going to attend.

Should I just set a date and see who can come and go from there? Please give feedback!! :)

I like the idea of a get together and would love to attend if possible. “If possible” being the operative words. I am wondering what exactly the proposal is. Are you suggesting a social event or if it is to be a fair type event? If you decide for next year or again next year, my schedule will be better suited. This year we are building a new house and I am expending my energy towards that. If you need a place in Kansas to hold a fair type event I have a Barn yard that will easily support a lot of venders. It’s kind of an icon on a busy St with easy access.
If you have it someplace else within something like a day’s drive we will try to be there.

  66. It does NOT have to be in Iowa. I just said that it would have to be here if I planned it. It can be somewhere else! Someone else can take over. whatever u all want! :)

I was thinking more of a social gathering....but we could discuss fair type. I don't care.

fsjunker ~ I am hoping to be building a house next year, so I feel your pain! :)

Oh, I am so excited! KSJunker, Daisytoad I am in Lawrence! only about 30 minutes from Topeka. I hope that we can get together sometime. I hope that an event can be arranged so we can all get together. I am looking for work (sort of) so right now my antique mall booth and my vintage gift basket business is my "work". I just moved to a bigger booth in the antique mall, woo hoo!

Lady Di and Mrs. Daisy (pun on the names), it’s good to meet you. We are pretty busy with building our new home but we usually will go up to Topeka to cut grass and work around the Barn. We stay there in a little shack sometimes have a bon fire and a couple drinks. Maybe you’d like to stop by sometime.

Yoohoo! Calling Beth at Tiny Matchbox Studio - I went to your blog (which is lovely!) and tried several times to post a comment, but it wouldn't let me. I also live in Tulsa! My booth is at River City in Jenks. Where is yours?

  88. Hey Hey Carol!! Here I am :)

How upsetting to me that my blog is being snobby...wonder what setting I need to change in order to receive more comments...thanks for letting me know, I will definitely try to fix it! I'm so glad I caught your note here. I did post a comment a couple of weeks ago on your thread about "How many of you have more than one booth" and wondered if you happened to see it. My booth is at Dewey Street Market in Sapulpa. Last November, I tried my hand at having 2 booths and opened one up in Jenks at Antique NV (the long version is on the other thread)- anyway, I have always loved shopping at River City...I don't think we have ever left there empty-handed!! Have you decided to open a second booth in Jenks or Tulsa or ??

Would love to meet up with you!

Can't imagine such a thing! :) Let me give my email address, and if you would drop me a note, maybe we could get together sometime. I would love to take a day to drive out to Sapulpa and see your place, maybe on a Friday when some garage sales might also be happening. You can write me at Callef@sbcglobal.net
