Ladies, you know we all love eye candy! I'd love to see what's currently in everybody's booth. Here's one I took today after redoing my booth, that shows the 1883 Bible page in the cool frame I found at the Flea Market Saturday. The picture says "Our Saviour" on it. I priced it pretty high because I think it's really special.

I flipped my booth around this weekend. When all of my wares were pulled out of the booth, I was pretty amazed that one 12' x 12' could hold that much "stuff".

I LOVE the silver-leaf table treatment, Carol. I also see another pretty wood table to the left of the picture. I LOVE tables and have many in my booth.

When posting booth pics, I find that it is focus on singular items--especially in MY pictures. I sell more quantity (smalls) the quality (antique furniture pieces). ; )

Hopefully, this picture gives a little closer perspective.

I took pictures of other vendor's booths. Our store has over 8,000 square feet of space and the vendors are always bringing in new items. I see something new just about every time I am there.

A person could spend hours in our store. And they often do.

  10. Thanks for sharing all the great photos -- just so inspirational.
I "touched everything" in my booth and case over the past several weeks -- cleaning, rearranging --- it really makes such a difference...and it was such fun to do.
Not sure which picture I am sending...but sending one from my booth.

  17. Ooo I love it. I was thinking about dragging my Duncan Phyfe couch up to the booth when I start it but just for staging purposes. What do you think? I dont want to sell it though. I have had it FOREVER.

A Duncan Phyfe would be a wonderful prop! The vendor in the booth next to mine featured two different couches when she opened her booth. They both sold.

The vendor on the other side of my booth started her business by staging a 1940's kitchen. She had been collecting for years and I loved her "look". Shoppers did too!

Sometimes, when I want to create a look (but don't want to sell something) I ask a ridiculously high price. It works for me.

I would definitely want to KEEP the Duncan Phyfe sofa.

  19. That is a good idea. I'll ask for 2K and I think that would keep it there FOREVER.
It's not in the best condition but it was my great grandmothers. It has been peed on and threw up on by so many children it's not even funny. Don't get me wrong it's not gross looking put she looks slightly worn out. (to say the least)
One day I will recover it but not right now.

I also have a Duncan Phyfe desk and the coffee table that goes with the couch but I am not taking those up there. I refinished the desk several years ago.

  20. I over priced a very tall pewter pitcher just to keep it from selling. It stopped a lot of people though... The couch would definitely be an invitation for people to stop and look.

I hope my dad never finds out that his Christmas gift...an antique wooden newspaper box found in a Buffalo, NY barn...was a "prop" in my booth before it was under his tree! Priced ridiculously high! It was a beauty...and a conversation piece!

I completely agree with putting a high price on things you don't really want to sell, vs. putting NFS on it. Especially after reading the ebook from the Vintage Rescue Squad gals, where they advise having nothing in your booth that is not for sale. It turns off customers, and after having thought about it, it makes sense. I know it annoys me to see "NFS" or "Display only" on an especially cool piece.

Here are a couple of pictures of my booth redo from today. I got the fabulous dark green metal trunk for $10! Don't tell my customers:) The center latch is not functional, but all the hardware and handles are intact, and the original tray is inside. I moved everything around today, and had lots of fun.

I think I've asked this before, and can't remember - why do pictures sometimes appear WITH the post, and other times only the file name shows up and you have to open it separately? I'm going to try this again as an experiment. YARRGHHH. Technology is great in that it allows all of us to communicate, but it sure can be frustrating! :)

  29. Is the silver table an old sewing table??? I have one similar. I bought the table cause I loved it, but the sewing machine in it is pretty cool and works good. It was her mother's machine. I just loved her. When I got the machine it wasn't all there. They came and found me where I work one day with some bobbins. Then they put an ad on CL for me to call. I called and they had more parts. The wonderful parts are worth so much more then the machine. I still love the table but can't bear to swap it out for the machine as I had intended. The machine is an old Singer with a potted motor - sews beautifully - goes through anything. I should sell it so someone gets some use out of that gem.

Love the booth - you should do ok. Stir it around every once in awhile and add new stuff. Keep prices within reason - that table and mirror are eye catching for sure. needs my pewter pitcher in that picture... LOL...

The silver table is not a sewing table, it's a nightstand with a drawer. But you're right, some of those old sewing cabinets do make great tables. It would be fun if we could "virtually" swap and try out some of our stuff in each other's booths, wouldn't it?

    Posted 2 years ago #
  31. How fun - a virtual swap - if it don't sell here maybe there???

  33. I'm so glad I came across this site! I love booth inspiration photos! I have a booth at Rockin' B Antiques in Georgia. I do their blog - http://rockinbantiques.blogspot.com/. I haven't been doing it all that long, but I love love love it! I'm attaching some photos of my booth, friends booths, and some feature booths at the store that I've helped decorate. I hope this topic keeps going!

Also, I have been gathering booth inspiration photos for awhile and I have a page on my blog linking to some of my favorite ideas - http://firstadream.blogspot.com/p/booth-inspiration.html

Now I need to add a link to this page!

    Welcome DreamGal-

Your shop pictures are wonderful. I love how the booths are staged! Gorgeous! Who does the staging? It looks like one person; there is a definite style that grabs me. The winter white booth...beautiful.

At our store, different vendors arrange differently. We have a couple people who are gifted at staging...and are recognized by/ asked to help stage other vendor's booths.

I glanced at your store blog! Wow! Great benches made from head/foot boards. You carry so many items that make me want to take a trip to Georgia.

I can tell you LOVE what you do and I plan on spending a lot more time browsing your blog.

Thanks for the inspiration! So glad you found us.

Wow! Who stages your store? You? Someone is VERY gifted. Your blog pics and these pics are tremendous! I think the baby buggy holding the flowers is adorable. Also, I love how the farm table (with tin legs?) is the anchor for above display.

My favorite picture is from your blog. It features your black and white Halloween display. Great use of old and new..the doors set it off...super sharp display.

So many talented women on this site!!!

Hi everybody! Dreamgal, in response to your question about the silver leaf nightstand, yes, it took quite a while and made a big mess. I vowed to never do a piece of furniture in metal leaf again! The stuff is very difficult to work with. Of course, as with any technique, with practice it would probably go on much easier. The sheets are so thin and delicate that it is very difficult to keep them intact and get them to go exactly where you want.

P.S. - GREAT photos from everyone. Such fun to see what everyone else has. We had a giant snowstorm here in Tulsa last week, which pretty much shut everything down. I'm headed out to my booth tomorrow to rearrange and add a few things before the next storm hits.

On the 15th of every month our antiques store has "booth night". Vendors meet, eat, and work on booths..ours and others.

I painted/upholstered two chairs and changed the look of my booth.

OMG! the booths are fantastic! You guys have such an eye for decorating. I am learning. I had to work the antique mall this morning and met some of my booth neighbors. I like the idea of getting together to re-organize, eat and socialize. I wish our mall did that. I may in time suggest such a thing but I already think I know what the response would be, sigh.

  52. Greetings! I love seeing everyone's booth photos and fun displays. Since this is my first post, thought I'd introduce myself...my name is Beth and I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For about 8 months now, my husband and I have had a booth on Rte 66 in Sapulpa, OK at an antique mall. I'm grateful to find this website with such helpful information from everyone! We have been fortunate to make our next month's rent plus a small profit (to run out and spend quickly!) each month - however, this particular month has been absolutely awful. Blaming it on the blizzard.

I spent 6 hours fluffing my booth yesterday hoping to make some sales before the end of the month. I usually don't take quite that long - just needed some additional cleaning and boy what a great exhaustion to have! Thought it'd be fun to share my booth photos too...

Welcome Beth! I just read about you on your blog and took a better look at your flicker pictures. Your booth is great. You are also a gifted photographer!

What I enjoyed from what you shared....(other than your booth is located on "Route 66"...How neat is that?!)...., is that you and your husband have been PARTNERS in collecting/junking for many years! I think I have junk-buddy envy!

I am looking for inexpensive ideas for covering the chicken-wire walls at the flea market. At present, I have vintage sheets w/white primitives in one booth. I've seen cardboard sprayed w/distress paint, pattern pieces, barn siding, draperies but I don't want to copy those ideas at the same mkt. or I don't have any barn siding or drapes at present. What other things have you used or seen for a backdrop? Thanks. Jeannine

We have some old doors along one wall. In my mind I thought they'd come all the way to the top. Wrong.
Chicken wire is fine, hooks hang easily. I just want to block off the next vendor's wares from mine.

    Posted 2 years ago #
  59. Jeannine, what is your theme or main focus in your booth? primitives? shabby? Cottage? French? or a mix? I ask because I've used old lace table clothes that I've found quite inexpensively at garage sales to drape (even on the chicken wire) if you want a romantic feminine look. One thing that is popular in the Frenchie- cottage style is to "paper a door or plywood with sheet music or old book pages.. I've used long window screens also because they are little more opaque than the chicken wire and can be hinged and even have shelves added. You could also attach them directly to the chicken wire and if your ceiling is tall you could stack one on top of the other. I've used lattice panels also.

Betsy, good ideas. One booth is primitive, one is a mix.
I can't wait for garage sales! I'll look for the lace tableclothes.
Papering a door w/book pages - I'll get on it! And, old window screens would still allow you to hang things easily. Thanks!
