Hello fellow junkers. I am enjoying your posts, ideas and pictures. I would like to ask, if you all would like to have post with pictures of your work, decorating, or just anything to do with reusing junk. Personally, I am more of a visual type. I would like to have a post where we could just browse pictures. I enjoy the links where I can go see more of your work, but thought it might be nice if we could just unwind here by looking at pictures. Sometimes I don't get the chance to sign in until later in the day. Which means sometimes, my brain is fried from, homework, errands, being the referee between kids, and unfortunately, an occasional call from the school. (I have a wonderful son that thinks he is a comedian)
So, some days I would like to just look when my brain is too tired to read and unable to retain info. LOL
If you would enjoy pictures too...post a picture(s) for we tired souls.

I love this idea. You can get lost in going from site to site. I'm getting to know all the names on this site and like hanin' here when I have time. I am always excited when Ki posts new pics or someone else puts something out there for us to see. What would be the procedure?
LilaPosted 4 years ago # -
I have some pic's on photobucket of shop and a few things but can't figure out how to get them from there to here....

I got this idea from Ki's magazine about a year ago.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I also enjoy pictures...however, living in rural Wisconsin on a farm -- we actually still have dial-up service...so pictures take a long time. Smile! Not complaining, mind you - the wait is always worth it!!
KariPosted 4 years ago # -
I'm on dial-up also.I like looking at pics too! The ones that are posted here load fast.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I agree Tesie. I would like to see an area where people just post pictures and tell about their projects. I enjoy the discussions but I I'm visual too and like to see pictures. I've recommended this site to a lot of people and the main feedback I get is that they want pictures.
ChristyPosted 4 years ago # -
I agree. I am a visual person and can't always picture things without really seeing them.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Tinta, love your pics. are those odd and ends pieces of glass objects you have put together. I have some large shutter I might have to find something I can match it up with. love the pics thanks
Posted 4 years ago # -
I can so relate to dial up. I live one block from the phone company's local area hook up. And we were one of the last towns in this arear to have high speed. I called the phone company to ask them why they were running wires but we couldn't get any thing but dial up....needless to say.........they couldn't answer my question. All they would say is it will be in our arear soon. crazy world.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I am a visual person as well! I would love to see more folks post pics! When I categorized the message boards I was hoping the project areas would encourage folks to post photos of their projects. Share!!! Please.
Peace,
KiPosted 4 years ago # -
I love the pics too...but am having problems posting them on this site. I haven't even been able to post any, cause I keep getting told that my images are too big...when i resize them and save them, i can't find where they've been saved! ARGH!!! Leveta...got the same dilemma as you...have pics on 2 different photo sites, but am too PC challenged to figure how to link to them! Double ARGH!!! Let me know if you figure out how to do that, ok? *elaine*
Posted 4 years ago # -
Personally, I like it when the pictures are right here attached to the post rather than a link to some place like Photobucket. That way you can delete the picture from the photo site but it will still be part of your post here. Otherwise, if you delete it from the photo site, it is gone and all we see here are links that go nowhere. JMO. :)

Here is the information from the FAQ about re-sizing your pics
Because of file restrictions, some files that you would like to upload to the Junk Revolution Community pages will need to be resized. If you are unable to resize photos using an application on your computer, please use the instructions below to resize your images online:
1. Go to www.picresize.com.
2. Locate the file you would like to resize on your computer using the "Browse" button. Once you have found the file, click "Open." Then click the "Continue" button. Your picture will now upload.
3. After uploading is complete, you will be presented with options for cropping, resizing and adding effects to your photo. Follow the page instruction to edit your photo to your liking. For resizing, make sure to set your custom width to 400 pixels wide or smaller. At the bottom of the page, make sure to select "JPG" from the "Save As" drop-down menu. Then click the "Resize Pic!" button.
4. The site will now resize your picture and present you with the ability to either view or download you resized image.
5. Click "View Resized Image" to make sure your image has been edited the way you intended.
6. Finally, use the "Click Here to Download/Save As" link to save the image to your computer. Then return to the Junk Revolution Community and post your newly resized image for all to see!You have to pick which file you save your image to. Make notes as to where you put this photo so you can retrieve it.
I hope this helps. If not, please let me know and I'll see what I can get the technical people to do.

I tried the resizing on here, but my pic was still to big even after i cut it down 3 times and set in on smaller pic. What did I do wrong?
Posted 4 years ago # -
I found out about a free download if you have Windows XP on your computer.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
It is called Windows Power Toys (photo resizer) and it works great. After downloading it onto my computer I am able to resize photos on my computer with a right click. I use the small size for my blog and the forum. I use medium size when I am emailing to a friend. My 20 year old son told me about it. I know Vista comes with it's own photo resizer.
Do you happen to have Windows XP?
Peace,
KiPosted 4 years ago # -
shoot i have vista...
Posted 4 years ago # -
If you have Vista you have the capabilities to resize your photos! I will ask my friend to hop on and let you know how. She just learned on her new computer.
Peace,
KiPosted 4 years ago # -
Thanks Ki...
Posted 4 years ago # -
If you have HP image zone it is simple to resize pics too. Not sure if you have it or not.
Posted 4 years ago # -
If you have Window Vista you can resize your pics before you send them. Open your pictures, pick the ones you want to send, at the top of the page you will see EMAIL at the top, click on email, then it will ask you what size, click on the down arrow and it will open all the sizes for you, I always pick small, then click ok, it will automatically add it to you email, then type in address you want to send it to.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Sorry a few more steps, what I do is resize the pics and send them to myself, then open the email and save the resized pics in your picture file, then when you want to post to the message board you can open your resized pics and attach them to your post. Hoepfully this helps you.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I have playing with this resizing thing a little, soooo here's a short cut. open th pictures you want to resize, highlight pics, click on EMAIL on the tool bar, it will ask for size, click on down arrow and I always use small, then click ok, the email will come up with the pics as attachements, right click on the attachments, click on OPEN, the picture will open, at the top left hand corner is ADD TO GALLERY, click on that, it will add the resized pic to your gallery, then go and open pictures, I made a separate file for the pics I have already resized called resized pics, then move your resized pics into this file. so when you post you can browse your RESIZED FILE, and attach those pics. Hope this helps.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I can resize pics, I just can't figure out where they go when I save them. LOL
Posted 4 years ago # -
They should be in your photo gallery. Right click start, open pictures. Can you see them in your pics?
Posted 4 years ago # -
where's that at?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Maybe if you loaded your pics into a picture trail of flickr account, it would re-size them. Then you can just post a link to the pic and it can be viewed by all.
MargoPosted 4 years ago # -
margo i am soooo pc illit....But I will get it figured out.I just hope you all can bare with me...lol
Posted 4 years ago # -
Start is on the lower left handcorner of your screen. It's the Windows icon, put your mouse on it and right click on it. This should bring up the choice of pictures on the right hand side of the window. Double click (left)on this and it should open your pictures.
Posted 4 years ago # -
My camera is kodak and came with its own program. In the kodak program, I can resize a picture really easy. It even has a resizing choice for the internet. I've only had a problem with one picture that wouldn't download. I am so glad I have kodak or I wouldn't be able to post pics. I am pc-illit also. I have to ask my son to show me how to do some things. (lol)
Cindy (tinta)Posted 4 years ago # -

The Junk Revolution Pin Up Page!!!!!! What a cool name.
Posted 4 years ago # -
I think that sound like a really fun idea. How does your Pin Up Page work? Are there catagories?
Posted 4 years ago # -
ours is just a spot on our greenoak site... called pin ups on the menu bar...
here you might need limits and decide if it was a big pile or in categories.... i thnk it would be fun and a good draw...
ki would have to make some rules so one person didnt take all the space...

Here's a photo of one of the frogs I painted. I like REALLY CHEAP materials, like the rocks I dig out of my garden. I guess this qualifies as a reimagine, what do you think? I saw these done in a magazine and thought I'd like to give it a try. I've done a bunch of them. Turtles, too.

He's really neat...Looks just like one....
Posted 4 years ago # -
That little frog-rock is adorable. I may have to try my hand at that - I would love to see turtles, toads and frogs peeking out from the flowers and herbs in my gardens!
Posted 4 years ago # -
Absolutely adorable frog-rock...you should be selling these if you don't already!
KariPosted 4 years ago # -
Gloria, I love the frog. What paint did you use that will weather outside? Did you put a sealer on it? I would love to make some of them.
LilaPosted 4 years ago # -
ladybugs would be adorable, too!!! oooh and bees with some sort of wire to propel them higher on a plant container! :)
i've seen rock painting but not in awhile, these are really cute!Posted 4 years ago # -
Thanks for the kind words. Yeah, I think this was popular a while back and there is a really good book available in library and craft stores with a step by step instruction. I used regular craft paint in the little plastic bottles, then a couple coats of poly to seal it. This one was done quite a few years back and has held up pretty well. All my grandkids play with them, so the poly must be doing its job.
I did sell some, but ended up giving away a lot, too.
Yes, I think there are instructions for all kinds of critters. I picked the easiest one which also happened to be my favorite.
Posted 4 years ago # -
These are just way too cute! I think they would be neat peaking out from a pathway in your yard or near some ferns or other flowers. Even tucked into a basket of neat gardening goodies for a gift. Love them !!!! Jan

Those painted rocks are really adorable!
MidgePosted 4 years ago # -
ADORABLE. Does anybody remember the "Pet Rock" era? I had one!!(lol)
Cindy (tinta)Posted 4 years ago # -
and how!! (from: little rascals, remember them...lol!)
yeah, i remember the pet rock but never purchased one! soooo...tinta did you name your pet rock? haha!!??
another idea for the rock critters....how about little owls and nestle them in holes in your trees?
Posted 4 years ago # -
Wow--those are just the cutest frogs. Love them!
ChristyPosted 4 years ago # -
Those rocks are too cute! I have 2 books for painting on rocks. I may have to try some.
Posted 4 years ago # -
Painting rocks is one of my favorite things to do.Supplies are cheap! It also helps to fill time during these LONG N. Michigan winters. Here's a few I've done.
Posted 4 years ago # -
You guys are soooo talented...All the rocks are wonderful,,,
Posted 4 years ago # -
Paintwife...If only I had 1/10 of your talent!!! Those are adorable.
Gigi....I'm sure I named my pet rock but don't remember what it was. I have been a rock collector since I was little so the pet rock fad was right up my alley. (haha)
Cindy (tinta)Posted 4 years ago # -
Those are absolutely great painted rocks! What kind of paint do you ladies use to paint the rocks? I would like to try this, although my talent is nowhere to what I see here! Have a great day, Di.

I forgot to mention that I was insired by Vanessa's Bloom Right Here blog and the pic she has on the top in making the name card holders! Thanks Vanessa!
Posted 4 years ago # -
Wow Paintwife! You are a fantastic painter!
Posted 4 years ago # -
I love the rocks!!! My son collects rocks - any shape, any size, any color - but the greatest of his collection are the ones that we have decided look like "something" or "someone"...if I had any talent like you have paintwife I would paint them to look like whatever it is!!! Those are fantastic!!!
And Breznlin - you make me want to set my table and use some name cards like you have made! Those are gorgeous - great job!!!
Posted 4 years ago # -
paintwife i need your opinion. i love to write/draw but i can never paint, NEVER! or i'm just not happy w/end result, anyhow! :(
can you please suggest a paintbrush or paintpen/marker/etc that will enable me to write and paint straight small lines and designs!!
i've tried paint markers....didn't like too well and all my small brushes let me down for stability...i love all your intricate work on the rocks...what do you use?Posted 4 years ago # -
Wow-you ladies are certainly talented. If I painted a rock it would look like one of my grandchildren painted it. Wish I had that talent. Anyway your rocks are awesome--they are full of character.
ChristyPosted 4 years ago # -
Paintwife,
I love your owl. The eyes are so expressive. I agree, the materials are cheap--that's always top on my list of whether I take on a project or not. I love walking along and imagining what I see in this rock or that.Just a hint to any of you that want to try this. Get the book to begin with. Copy some until you get the hang of it, then you'll be painting solo in no time. I am definitely not a painter, but found the step by step pretty easy.
Also, look for the smoothest rocks possible. And the least porous. Or your paint will just soak in and disappear. I learned this the hard way. (I learn EVERYthing the hard way.) I've never tried it, but it might be possible to coat the rock first with polyurethan to give it a smooth surface, then paint it, then poly to seal.
And yes, it's great for passing the long NY winters, too!!

I wanted to share a small project I did this weekend. A hanger redo, Ki has something very simalar in here store here at Junk Revolution and I saw a similar project in another post, trash to treasure $$$.
This can be used in many ways and adapted to many other uses.
Add more clothes pins to diplay hankies or doilies in your booth or at home, photos, etc. Just keep the same amount of clothes pins on each side to keep it even.Posted 4 years ago # -
cute and rustic looking!
Posted 4 years ago # -
I love those. Very cute.
Posted 4 years ago # -
So cute...Whats the middle piece?? Love it...
Posted 4 years ago # -
Thanks, the middle piece is a piece of fabric dewed in a yoyo style circle, a fabric bow with ricrac and a rusty star. You could do lots of different things to this, paint it, wrap it in fabric, I was going to add old lace and buttons to the clothed pins.
