I am a fan of this site and will be headed to the bonanza in a couple of weeks. I would really like to start a blog so that I can communicate with others who have them. I am also thinking about opening a shop in my area and would like a way to share some of the things I have repurposed and created. I would appreciate any help someone could give me. If this can be done online that would be fine or if we could meet at the bonanza to discuss it that would be great as well. Please help. Thanks Robin

  3. Hi Robin:
So -- I just started a blog in the beginning of the summer. I found Blogger very easy to use....you just have to play around with it -- it is VERY forgiving. Honestly, as the saying goes: "If I can do it, anyone can."

    My blog is: www.meadowviewfarmwi.blogspot.com

I am enjoying changing my template theme with the season...that is the "teacher in me".

I will also be at Junk Bonanza -- first time visit -- but just not sure when I will arrive.

  4. Welcome! For blog information you can do a search here for an old topic "Finally, I am a blogger"--there is some useful information located there. You can also do a net search for blogging tips--I found lots of good information there too.
Most of us that have blogs will have a blue hilighted name next to any of our posts. You can click on it to visit the blog. Have fun....you will meet so many wonderful people!! Kim

Thank you so much for all of your advise. Kari, I checked out your blog and discovered it is one that I have been checking back on periodically. Your barn sale coming up looks wonderful. Kim yours looks wonderful as well. Boy do I wish I could paint like you can. And thank you for the warm welcome. Where is the starting point for creating a blog is there a website you go to to begin or just go to someone elses and click on the create a blog or what. Sorry to seem so dense about this but I have been visiting blogs and checking them for a long time just don't know how to start and I feel like I am missing out on the fun. Keri I you would be interested in finding a time to chat at the Bonanza you can e-mail me at thehahns@diodecom.net, it would be great to hear from you and them maybe you could give me a little more blogging advise. Again, thanks for the warm welcome and all of the wonderful advise. Robin

  8. Hi Robin,
I'm no expert on blogs, there is probably a lot more than I know to do. I use blogspot.com and it made it pretty easy. There are also graphic sites that let you use templates for free or a small fee. I've used The Cutest Blog on the Block. It is a good way to connect... warning... they are time consuming and addicting! LOL!!! Usually if someone is using a templete or background it will say it somewhere on their blog.
Have fun at the Bonanza. We sold there last year and it was a blast. Wishing we were going again this year but it just wasn't in the cards. A friend of mine sells at the Bonanza and is a good friend of Ki's. Her business name is Daffadowndilly's (her name is Cammie) she has a ton of wonderful "junk". Be sure to find her. She'll be in the "tent", the first place you enter.
Have a fun & safe trip!

  9. Robin, just go to www.blogger.com and click on create blog...they also have a help section that I have used over and over. There are all kinds of free backgrounds to use. I use one from shabby blogs. You just go to their sites copy and paste the information into the template on your blog set up. You can play around with all kinds of stuff and dont have to post until you are ready--no one can see what you are doing until you click on the the post button.
I know Jill Ruth is busy this weekend---I am thinking she may be close to you too. Have fun!! Kim

Thank you all SO MUCH for all of the advise. I am in the process of figuring out how to get this done. I will let you all know when I am done and would appreciate any feed back that you have. Laurie,I am only about 90 minutes away from you. When is your Fall Open House. I would love to come if I can. Kim thank you so much for all of the info. Where are you located and where is Jill Ruth located. It is so good to know that there are a group of us from Nebraska (The Good Life).

  11. I'm on the other end of the state! here is my severely neglected blog http://daisytoad.blogspot.com

Blogger is pretty easy, I had Thompson Design on Etsy do my blog background for me but wanted it to match my logo and such.

I am opening a shop or occasional sale, with the first at the beginning of October.

We are moving and debating whether to rent out current house or use it as a shop/occasional sale with rented space (I'd love to here others thoughts, hopefully this first sale is a success!)

  12. Robin I am actually in south east Iowa--it is about 4 hours to Omaha from here-one hour to the Mississippi. Our next show will be for the Fall Festival of Van Buren counties--Keosauqua Ia. This festival has been mentioned in Country Living magazine. Good luck to everyone during this fall season of shows!!
