I am making some bird feeders that have wire wrapped around a glass jar and would love to use some old barb wire that a friend gave me. When I start to bend the wire tends to break.
Any ideas on how to make the wire less brittle - it is very rusty (I am using safety precautions & equipment).

  4. Hmmm...I have also been thinking about barbed wire! We were given permission to walk a forlorn & vacant farm & take what had been left behind. We took rolls of rusty barbed wire. I like the look of a "wreath" of wire (have one hanging on our corn crib)--- but have also seen orbs/balls made out of rusty barbed wire set in urns. Haven't tried yet, but never though the wire might break....I was more concerned about getting it in an orb shape.
