Warren County, Iowa. Start at The Garden Barn north of Indianola. In town and on the square, stop by the new antique store on the east side. From there, find your way to highway 92(south of the square) and go west to the Indianola Flea Market. After that, meander your way thru the rolling countryside...continuing on Hwy. 92 west until you come to R45 Hwy. Go south there for approx. 15 miles. You'll end up in the sweet community of New Virginia...there, you'll want to stop by Vintage Home &#38; Garden...my shop. Second Saturday Sales thru December. Closed Jan-March. Sunbury has lots of shops that are augmented by sales in the center of the city on legal holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day (maybe July 4, too). Waynesville, Oh is a nice place with lots of shops and at least one Bed and Breakfast. Powell has a bunch of nice antique shops interspersed with shops with other cool stuff. There are so many other places. Not to mention all the cool shops in town. And a stones throw (12 miles) is Middlebury (my town). The Old Creamery Antique Mall on Main Street opened up last June and is another very reasonable place to shop and it goes on and on. From there head south to Goshen (15 miles away) and there are 2 more great antique Malls. There is a little town off of IH35 running right through Central Texas called Salado - it's a must see! Antiques, Junk, Gifts, B&#38;B's - the whole nine yards! And, if you get through there at Christmas time it is incredible!!! We also have some "hill country" towns that are fun - Fredericksburg is just one of them! There's absolutely something for everyone there. Also, the antiques mall in Red Wing (three floors) is a treasure trove of everything from primitives to fine antiques. Red Wing also has great scenery, bed and breakfasts and great dining. The first two weekends of October is very very busy in Fulton county and Knox county. It is what we call the "Spoon River Scenic Drive". It is all the big and little towns that are near The spoon River. I wish I could remember one of the web addresses but you will be able to find it in a search engine. You would just love the scenery at that time of year. All the trees are changing colors. You drive thru a haze of red, gold, orange, brown and some green. In the past, there has been people come on this drive from all the surrounding states. Some people even plan there vacations on one of those weekends.<br /> There is also the garage sales on "Route 34". I personally have not done this one. I am going to try to get to it this year, tho.<br /> There is a small town in Marshall County called Lacon. A small town but full of antiques/flea shops. Lacon sits along the Illinois River. The two towns are 10 miles apart and between them there is at least a dozen antique and other unique shops. Must be in the Midwest and be the kind of place you would love to go with your girlfriends or antiquing partner. The more shops in the area the better. They are planning on including Walnut Iowa, so if you want to tell us why you like Walnut...go for it. Of course they have a tight deadline so rattle on!
