How to make homemade rubons- You can only do this with an inkjet printer as far as I know. You need to go to your local office supply and ask for inkjet transparencies. They sell them in packages but it is a lot cheaper to go to the copy counter and ask them to sell you 2 or 3.
Put the transparency in your printer so it will print on the smooth side. YES upside down! The ink will not dry on this side so it creates the rubon. Be careful not to smear the ink when you put it on the surface you want to apply the rubon to. Rub the back side of the design with a craft stick or anything else you would normally use to do rubons. Keep rubbing until the ink has come off of the transparency or until the design is as dark as you want it. Hold on tight while rubbing as these are slippery.
If there is any ink left on the transparency you can wipe it right off. If it's a little stubborn coming off I use a quick squirt of window cleaner. Make sure the transparency is completely dry before you use it again.
You get make hundreds of rubons from one sheet using this method and if you have bought them lately at the craft store you know how expensive they can be. Also your designs are only limited by what you can scan or download on your computer.
I have only used these on porous surfaces yet and I don't think they will work on nonporous surfaces but who knows. If you give it a try and it works let me know!
ENJOY!

I built this little thing from scrap lumber I picked up at a local construction site. The design on the back was done using homemade rubons.
