This Spring I filled it with potting soil and planted it with lettuce seeds. I can move it around the yard, so if it is an especially rainy day/night, I move it under a tree. It has filled up with the most awesome lettuce! I clip off want I need for dinner and it keeps growing. The seeds can be started earlier than most other vegies/flowers as they are designed for early gardening. I live in west central WI and I starte mine in early May. I think I covered the wheelbarrow once when it got especially cold one night. It does get heavy, so make sure you do repair the wheel if you think you will need to move it around the yard. DH did that once before finally getting a new tire at the hardware store. I have a vintage rusty 2 wheel garden cart that has totally lost the tire and has a rim now. To me it is charming but to DH it is a piece of junk! Right wording but in the wrong tense for him...LOL ! If I take part in the huge junk flea mkt sale in Oct. in Texarkana it may show up over there in my booth for sale. I will try to drag it out and take a pic of it...we found it at a garage sale for a couple of dollars a few years ago. They make the greatest planters too when they get that rusty patina and some tiny holes in the bottom. I plant mine every spring with annuals and then with marigolds in early fall. I also found a very vintage whirly gig at an auction in a box of junk a few years back and he is plopped right among the flowers. Just love it all ! The owner says the wheel may never hold air again. I don't know if this is going to hinder me using it as a planter or not. Those of you who have done this already, what do you think? can you replace those tires easily? If not, are there any creative ways I can still use the wheelbarrow as a planter without the wheel? HELP!!! I have to let her know if I want it very soon... </p>
